tadyathā-- sijjai romañcijjai vevai ratthātulaggapaḍilaggo /
sopāso ajja vi suhaa jeṇāsi volīṇo // //
etadgāthārthādbhāvyamānādyā rasapratītirbhavati, sā tvāṃ spṛṣṭvā svidyati romāñcate vepate ityevaṃvidhādarthātpratīyamānānmanāgapi no jāyate /
tadevaṃ dhvaniprabhedasamāśrayeṇa yathā kāvyārthānāṃ navatvaṃ jāyate tathā pratipāditam /
guṇībhūtvayaṅgyasyāpi tribhedavyaṅgyāpekṣayā ye prakārāstatsamāśrayeṇāpi kāvyavastūnāṃ navatvaṃ bhavatyeva /
tattvativistārakārīti nodāhṛtaṃ sahṛdayaiḥ svayamutprekṣaṇīyam /
locanam darśayati--na cetyādinā /
rathyāyāntulāgreṇa kākatālīyena pratilagnassā mukhyena sa pārśvo 'dyāpi subhaga tasyā yenāsyatikrāntaḥ /

parasparahetukaśṛṅgārapratītiḥ /
asyārthasya rasānuguṇatvaṃ vyatirekadvāreṇa draḍhayati--sā tvāmityādinā /
'dhvaneryassaguṇībhūtavyaṅgyasyādhvā pradarśita' ityudyotārambhe yaḥ ślokaḥ tatra dhvaneradhvanā kavīnāṃ pratibhāguṇo 'nanto bhavatotyeṣa bhāgo vyākhyāta ityupasaṃharati--tadevamityādinā /
saguṇībhūtavyaṅgyasyetyamuṃ bhāgaṃ vyācaṣṭe--guṇībhūtetyāhinā /
triprabhedo vastvalaṅkārarasātmanā yo vyaṅgyaḥ tasya yāpekṣā vācyeguṇībhāvaḥ tayetyarthaḥ /
tatra sarve ye dhvanibhedāsteṣāṃ guṇībhāvādānantyamiti tadāha--ativistareti /
svayamiti /
tatra vastunā vyaṅgyena guṇībhūtena navatvaṃ satyapa purāṇārthasparśe yathā mamaiva-- bhaavihalarakhkhaṇekakamallasaraṇāgaāṇaaththāṇa /
khaṇamattaṃ viṇa diṇṇā vissāmakahetti juttamiṇam // //
atra tvamanavaratamarthāstyajasīti audāryalakṣaṇaṃ vastu dhvanyamānaṃ vācyasyopaskārakaṃ bālapriyā tribhedavyaṅgyāpekṣayetyetadvyācaṣṭe--triprabheda ityādi /

bhayavihvalarakṣaṇaikamallaśaraṇāgatānāmarthānām /
kṣaṇamātramātramapi na dattā viśrāmakatheti yuktamidam // //

locanam navatvandadāti, satyapi purāṇakavispṛṣṭe 'rthe /

alaṅkāreṇa vyaṅgyena vācyopaskāre navatvaṃ yathā mamaiva-- vasantamattāliparamparopamāḥ kacāstavāsan kala rāgavṛddhaye /
śmaśānabhūbhāgaparāgabhāsurāḥ kathantadetena manāgviraktaye // //
atra hyākṣepeṇa vibhāvanayā ca dhvanyamānābhyāṃ vācyamupaskṛtamiti navatvaṃ satyapi purāṇārthayogitve /
tathāhi purāṇaślokaḥ--- kṣuttṛṣṇākāmamātsaryaṃ maraṇācca mahadbhayam /
pañcaitāni vivardhante vārdhake viduṣāmapi //

vyaṅgyena rasena guṇībhūtena vācyopaskāreṇa navatvaṃ yathā mameva-- jarā neyaṃ mūrdhni dhruvamayamasau kālabhujagaḥ krudhāndhaḥ phūtkāraiḥ sphuṭagaralaphenān prakirati // //
tadenaṃ saṃpaśyatyatha ca sukhitammanyahṛdayaḥ śivo pāyannecchan bata bata sudhīraḥ khalu janaḥ //

rāgasya vairāgyasya coddīpakatvāttattadupamānamupāttam /

anena pratyuta kāraṇābhāve 'pi kāma eva vardhanta ityarthasya kāmasya mahimā varṇayitumaśakya ityarthasya ca prakāśanādvibhāvanākṣepau vyajyete, tābhyāṃ ca vācyamupaskriyata ityāha--atra hītyādi // //

te sampratyakaṭhoravāraṇavaghūdantāṅkuraspardhino niryātāḥ kamalākareṣu bisinīkandāgrimagranthayaḥ // //

sa ca vivicya yathāyathamupanibadhyamānastathaivāntyamāyāti /
tathā hi---mānuṣāṇāmeva tāvaddigdeśādibhinnānāṃ ye vyavahāravyāpārādiṣu vicitrā viśeṣāsteṣāṃ kenāntaḥ śakyate gantum, viśeṣato yoṣitām /
upanibadhyate ca tatsarvameva sukavibhiryathāpratibham /

yathartubhedāddigvyomasalilādīnāmacetanānām /
cetanānāṃ cautsukyādayaḥ kālaviśeṣāśrayiṇaḥ prasiddhā eva /

na hi tairatītamanāgataṃ vartamānañca aparicitādisvalakṣaṇaṃ yogibhiriva pratyakṣīkrīyate; taccānubhāvyānubhavasāmānyaṃ sarvapratipattṛsādhāraṇaṃ parimitatvātpurātanānāmeva gocarībhūtam, tasyā viṣayatvānupapatteḥ /

'ramyaṃ' kāvye cāru bhavati /

'yatra' nibaddhe yasmin vastuni /
idaṃ kiñcit sphuritamitīyaṃ buddhiḥ lokasya ujjihīte ityanvayaḥ /
tadanugatamapi pūrvacchāyayā vastu tādṛk tādṛkṣaṃ sukavirvivakṣitavyaṅgyavācyārthasamarpaṇasamarthaśabdaracanārūpayā bandhacchāyayopanibadhnannindhatāṃ naiva yāti /
taditthaṃ sthitam--- pratāyantāṃ vāco nimitavividhārthāmṛtarasā na sādaḥ kartavyaḥ kavibhiranavadye svaviṣaye /
santi navāḥ kāvyārthāḥ paropanibaddhārthaviracane na kaścitkaverguṇa iti bhāvayitvā /

pratyakṣaṃ yathā tathā arthanidarśinīmarthānnidarśayantīm /
apratyakṣānapyarthān pratyakṣāniva pradarśayantīmiti yāvat /

ānandavardhanasya yo vivekaḥ vivicyatattadarthāvabodhaḥ tena vikāsī prakāśamāno yaḥ kāvyalokastasya yānyarthatatvāni sārārthāḥ teṣāṃ ghaṭanātsaṃyojanāddhetoḥ /
anumeyassāra utkarṣo yasya tat, kiñca yat pronmiṣat sahṛdayeṣu prakāśamānamatha ca prakarṣeṇa unmiṣat sat sakalānāṃ sarveṣāṃ sarveṣāṃ kāvyādīnāṃ sadviṣayān sārārthān sakalān sadviṣayānvā atha ca sakalānāṃ sarveṣāṃ kāvyādīnāṃ sadbiṣayān sārārthān sakalān sadviṣayān vā atha ca sakalān sadviṣayān vidyamānān padārthān prakāśayatīti tathā bhavati tat tathāvidham /
abhinavaguptasya tannāmnaḥ svasya, atha ca abhinavaṃ navīnāṃ guptamanyeṣāmaviditaṃ ca locanamālocanaṃ jñānaṃ netraṃ ca vyāpāryata ātmanā vyāpāritam /

atha paramamāheśvaro granthakāro granthānte paramaśivānusandhānātmakaṃ paramamaṅgalamanutiṣṭhannāha---vastuta ityādi /
janasya hṛdi hṛdaye vastutaḥ śivamaye sati śivamaye hṛdīti vā yojanā, sarvataḥ sarvaṃ vastu sphuṭaṃ śivamayaṃ virājate bhāti /

kvacana kvacidapi kasyacidvacaḥ aśivaṃ na bhavati, kintu sarvatra śivameva bhavatītyarthaḥ /
anena vastutaḥ śivamaye svasya hṛdaye sarvaṃ śivamayaṃ bhāti /
atassarvatrāpi viṣaye svavacaḥ śivamevetyarthaḥ pradarśitaḥ /
