na ca jaimineḥ pramāṇalakṣaṇādiṣvaudāsīnyamātreṇa gautamokteṣu kāśyapokteṣu vā niḥśeṣānumatisiddhiriti mantavyam, anyaparatayā lokaprasiddhopajīvanāt, parakalpitataṭākopajīvanavat /
karmakāṇḍavṛttikārādayo 'pi hi losiddhāṃ pramāṇādivyavasthāṃ yathāyathamanyathā saṃjagṛhuḥ /
ato yāvadiha yuktiyuktaṃ tāvadupajīvyate; na khalu taṭākasthaḥpaṅko 'pyapaṅkilabuddhibhistatadavagāhibhirupajīvyate /
ataḥ siṃhavanaguptinyāyena yathāvasthitanyāyānugṛhītaṃ vedaṃ vedānumataṃ ca nyāyamanusarāmaḥ, na punarnyāyamātram //
yattu "jñātasaṃbandhasya" ityādigranthamupādāyānantaramuktaṃ śrīviṣṇucitteḥ---- "vyāptidhīgarbhānubhavo 'numānamityarthaḥ /
nyāyaśāstre tu tadviśeṣanirṇayaḥ" iti, tadapi tannirūpaṇādhikṛtavidyāsthānakhyāpanaparam /
pramāṇādisūtramupādāya vyācakṣāṇaistatpakṣaniṣṭhairapi pūrvaiḥ kvacit sūtrāṇi nirākṛtāni /
tannyāyasya nāsmāsu sarpamāraḥ, nāpi daṇḍanivāraṇam /
tataśca, yathālokaṃ yathāvedaṃ laukike vaidike 'pi ca /
yo vaktā sa parigrāhyaḥ prāktano 'dyatano 'pi vā //

yattāvatsūtritaṃ prathamādhyāye --- "ghrāṇarasanacakṣustvakchrotrāṇīndriyāṇi bhūtebhyaḥ" iti; atra jñānendriyapañkopādānaṃ nendriyāntarapratikṣepārtham, manasaḥ pṛthakprameyatayā uddeśāt anantarameva ca "yugapajjñānānutpattirmanaso liṅgam" iti lakṣaṇakaraṇāt abhyupagamasiddhāntanyāyena ca tadindriyatvaparīkṣaṇāt /
ataścoktena samānayogakṣemayuktipramāṇakaḥ karmendriyavarga upalakṣaṇīyaḥ, "pravṛttirvāgbuddhiśarīrārambhaḥ" iti sūtre vācaḥ kaṇṭhokteḥ pāṇyādicatuṣṭayasya śārīravyāpārakaraṇatayā sūcanāditi //
śarīrake tu "saptagaterviśeṣitatvācca" iti pūrvapakṣamupakṣipyāsādhayacca hastādīnāmapīndriyatvaṃ bhagavān bādarāyaṇaḥ--- "hastādayastu sthite 'to naivam" iti /
"bhūtebhyaḥ" iti ca nopādānābhiprāyam, ahaṅkāropāttānāmāpyāyakabhūtavivakṣayāpi tadupapatteḥ /
tathā ca vedārthasaṃgrahe---"evamāhaṅkārikāṇāmindriyāṇāṃ bhūtaiścāpyāyanaṃ mahābhārata ucyate" iti /
samādhānam ṛṣyantaravākyasyāpi samānanyāyasya nirvāhārtham /
parasparaviruddhapramāṇavākyeṣu tātparyaviśeṣaparikalpanayā parihāra eva hi paṇḍitakṛtyam /
anityamanovādibhirapi hi "annamayaṃ hi somya manaḥ"--- iti śrutirāpyāyanaparatayaiva yojyā /
tulyamidamanyatrāpīti //
yattu---"bādhanālakṣaṇaṃ duḥkham" "tadatyantavimokṣo 'pavargaḥ" iti, tatra duḥkhātyantanivṛtterapavargatvaṃ sarvāṅgīkṛtam /
na ca tatrānandaḥ śrautaḥ kaṇṭhoktyāḥ pratiṣidhyate /
tadabhiprāye cānanyathāsiddhaṃ kimapi na liṅgaṃ paśyāmaḥ /
ata eva hi bhūṣaṇamate nityasukhasaṃvedanasaṃbandhasiddhirapavarge sādhitā /
etena "tasmātsarvaduḥkhavimākṣo 'pavargaḥ" iti caturthādhyāyavākyamapi nirvyūḍham, tatrāpyānandaniṣedhābhāvāt //
yacca śārīrakadvitīyādhyāyaviruddhamiha dvitīyādhyāye avayavisamarthanamivābhāti, tadapi tadekārthaṃ yojayituṃ śakyam /
tathā hi---"na caikadeśopalabdhiravayavisadbhāvāt /
sādhyatvādavayavini saṃdehaḥ /
sarvāgrahaṇamavayavyasiddheḥ /
dhāraṇākarṣaṇopapatteśca /
senāvanavadgrahaṇamiti cennātīndriyatvādaṇūnām /
" ityetāni hi tatsūtrāṇi; na tāni virudhyante, senāvanādivyāvṛttāvayavyārambhakatayā tadasamavāyikāraṇatvābhimatāvasthāviśeṣāpannaḥ saṃghātaviśeṣa evāvayaviśabdena nirdiṃśyata ityavirodhāt tāvataiva upalambhavyavahāraviśeṣādeścaritārthatvāt /
atīndriyāṇuvacanamapi pradīpāvayavānāmivaindriyikāṇāmevāvasthāviśeṣeṇātīndriyatvābhyupagamādaviruddham /
avyaktameva hi triguṇadravyamavasthāviśeṣādravyaktaṃ bhavatītyāgamikāḥ /
pratyekamupalambhāyogyānāmapi saṃhativiśeṣarūpāvasthābhedādaindriyikatvatattāratamyādikaṃ himānīcūrṇapuñjādiṣvanārabdhāvayaviṣu lokasiddham /
upamānākhyapramāṇāntarasamarthanaṃ tu nyāyaikadeśibhirevopamānasyānumānāntarbhāvapratikṣepamātraparatayā nirvyūḍham //
yacca---"pūraṇapradāhapāṭanānupalabdheśca saṃbandhābhāvaḥ" iti śabdārthasaṃbandhābhāvamupakṣipya pariharatā "śabdārthavyavasthānādapratiṣedhḥ" /
"na sāmayikatvācchabdādarthe pratyayasya" ityādinā sāmayikatvamuktam; tadapi saṃpratipannasāmayikatvadvārā anumānādivilakṣaṇasaṃbandhaviśeṣakhyāpanārthamiti yojyam, anādinidhanāvicchinnasaṃpradāyavedavartināṃ padānāṃ manvādivacanaviruddhasāṃketikatvopapādanakḷptyasaṃbhavāt /
yacca "mantrāyurvedaprāmāṇyavacca tatprāmāṇyamāptaprāmāṇyāt" iti, etadapyanādinidhanasyaiva vedasya pratikalpamīśvareṇāptatamena yathāpūrvaṃ pravartanamabhisaṃdhāyeti sugamam //
varṇānityatvavarṇanaṃ tu na śrutyādiviruddham; pratyutānukūlameva /
śārīrakadevatādhikaraṇe varṇānityatvamabhyupagamyaiva hi "ata eka ca nityatvam" "samānanāmarūpatvāccāvṛttāvapyavirodho darśanāt smṛteśca" iti vedanityatvaṃ sādhitam //
yattu jaiminīye śabdādhikaraṇe varṇanityatvasamarthanaṃ vyācakhyuḥ; sa tu vyākhyātṝṇāmevāparādhaḥ, asāṃketikavācakākāranityatvaparatvenānyaparatvāttasyādhikaraṇasya //
yacca dvitīyādhyāyānte "vyaktyākṛtijātayastu padārthaḥ"ityuktam, tatrāpi na vaiśeṣikābhyupagatajātisvīkāre liṅgaṃ paśyāmaḥ; nahyatra dravyaguṇādipadārthaparisaṃkhyānaṃ kriyate, "te vibhaktyantāḥ padam" iti pratipāditapadavācyapradarśanaparatvāt /
anantaraṃ catisṛṇāmeva lakṣaṇamāha---"vyaktirguṇaviśeṣāśrayo mūrtiḥ""ākṛtirjātiliṅgākhyā" "samānaprasavātmikā jātiḥ" iti /
iha tu vastusvarūpanirūpitasvarūpaviśeṣakadharmasvarūpanirūpakadharmaviṣayatayā yathāsaṃbhavaṃ yojyam /
ato na dvitīyādhyāye 'pi vedāntavirodhaḥ /
tṛtīye "darśanasparśanābhyāmekārthagrahaṇāt" ityādikaṃ bāhyāntarindriyādinirūpaṇādikaṃ cātyantopayuktam /
na ca manonityatvādikaṃ tatra sūtritam; yena tadutpattyādiśrutikopaḥ //
yaccātroktam---"gandhakledapākavyūhāvakāśadānebhyaḥ pāñcabhautikaṃ śrutiprāmāṇyācca" iti, etadeva yathāśrutaṃ siddhāntatayā svīkāryam /
yadapi "gandharasarūpasparśaśabdānāṃ sparśaparyantāḥ pṛthivyāḥ" "aptejovāyūnāṃ pūrvapūrvamapohyākāśasyottaraḥ" iti guṇavyavasthāpanam, tatra tu tathaivābhyupagame 'pi na vastvantaravirodhaḥ /
tathāpyākāśādiṣu śabdāderekadvitricatuṣpañcakrameṇa purāṇeṣu pāṭhāt, ākāśānupraveśādanyatra śabda iti nirvāhe vārūvādyanupraveśāduttarottareṣu sparśādiriti nirvoḍhuṃ śakyatvāt, upalambhānvayavyatirekābhyāṃ vyavasthāpanasyāpi samatvāt, gandhādisūtraṃ pṛthivyāste santyevetyayogavyavacchedena nirvāhyam /
"ākāśasyottaraḥ" ityatra tu tasya sa evetyanyayogavyavacchedena /
kati kati caivaṃ sūtrāṇi kliṣṭāni parairapi niruhyante //
yacca---"svaguṇānnopalabhanta indriyāṇi kasmāditicet" "saguṇānamindriyabhāvāt" ityatra "na śabdaguṇopalabdheḥ" ityuktam; tatrāpi śrotrendriyasya ākāśāpyāyitātvādāpyāyakaguṇasya tadguṇatāṃ paṭanailyapānīyasaurabhādivat prakalpoktamuttaram /
athavā yathāgamamāhaṅkārikatvamindriyāṇāmajānataścodye bhūtāpyāyitendriyapakṣe sthitvaivedamuttaraṃ gūḍhābhiprāyeṇa dadīya iti /
etaduktaṃ bhavati---bhavatā kimindriyaguṇopalambhābhāva ucyate, kiṃ vā tadāpyāyakaguṇopalambhābhāvaḥ ? pūrvatrāṅgīkāra evottaram, śabdādīnāmanindriyaguṇatvāt /

ato na vedāntavirodhaprasaṅgaḥ //
caturthe 'dhyāye--pravṛttirāgadveṣādinirūpaṇam, ātmanityatvādinā pretyabhāvādipratipādanam, animittabhāvotpattisarvānityatvasarvanityatvādinirūpaṇaṃ cātyantānuguṇam /
avayaviprasaṅgaśca prāguktanyāyena netavyaḥ /
pañcamastu jātinigrahasthānamātropakṣīṇo na kvacittattva upakaroti /
vyavahārāṅgavimarśasaundaryāsaundaryādikaṃ tu vāstavalakṣyalakṣaṇayuktyādiparāmarśavaijñānikairarthasthitimātrānusārādanādaraṇīyam /
yat punararvāgbhirakṣacaraṇapañcādhyāyyāṃ kuśakāśāvalambena kaṇacaraṇakathāṃ niveśya naigamikyaḥ padavyo nirudhyante, tatra tu nūnaṃ sa eva gautamaḥ svayamantaḥ prahasati //

"aṅgāni vedāścatvāro mīmāṃsā nyāyavistaraḥ /
purāṇaṃ dharmaśāstraṃ ca vidyā hyetāścaturdaśa //
yānyuktāni mayā samyagvidyāsthānāni bhārata /

tasmāttāni na śūdrasya spraṣṭavyāni kathañcana /

tasmādetāni traivarṇikairadhyetavyāni /
tatra brāhmaṇena vidyāprāptaye dharmānuṣṭhānāya cādhigantavyāni /
kṣatriyavaiśyābhyāṃ dharmānuṣṭhānāyaiva /
tathā śaṅkhena vidyāsthānānyanukramyoktam--- "etāni brāhmaṇo 'dhikurute /
sa ca vṛttiṃ darśayatītareṣām" iti /
evameva dharmaśāstrasaṃgrāhakaiḥ samarthitam /
tataśca yeṣāṃ karmabrahmamīmāṃsāvaseyatattvahitarūpaprameyacintādhikāraḥ, teṣāmeva tātparyaparyavasāyitayā dharmavidyāsthānābhimatanyāyaṃvistarāndhikārapa iti siddham //

prameyasyāpi saṃśuddhirantato brahmacintanāt /
iha tasya niveśastu tādarthyādiprasiddhaye //
pramāṇamevāsya śāstrasya prādhānyato viṣayaḥ /
tatra prekṣāvadadhicikīrṣāsiddhyartham---prameyatattvajñānaṃ hānopādānadvārā niḥśreyasahetuḥ, tacca saparikarāt pramāṇāt---iti paramparayā prayojanajñāpanāya pradarśanamātramihābhimatam /
ataḥ pradhānaviṣayatayā, prameyādisādhakatayā ca pramāṇaṃ prameyādapi pūrvamucyate /
tatra vyavacchedyatvāṅgatvādimukhena saṃśayādayo 'pi caturdaśa yathāyathaṃ nirūpyante /
na ca ṣoḍaśatve nirbandhaḥ, atathātvaviparyayatvādyupādhyantarādhīnasaṃgrahavibhajanābhyāṃ nyūnādhikoddeśasyāpi śakyatvāt upayogānupayogāviśeṣācca /
etāvadevagautamasyāpi hṛdayamiti //

asti tāvadidaṃ pramāṇamidamapramāṇamiti prasiddho laukikaparīkṣakavyavahāraghaṇṭāpathaḥ /
tadanādare tu nirāśrayatayā parīkṣaṇasyāpyanudayaḥ //
vyavahāro hi jagato bhavatyālambane kvacit /
na tatsāmānyato nāsti kathantā tu parīkṣyate //
sāmānyaniścitārthena viśeṣe tu bubhutsite /
parīkṣā hyucitā sveṣṭapramāṇotpādanātmikā //
na sarvasyāpramāṇatvaṃ svapakṣasya svataḥ kṣateḥ /
na sarvasya pramāṇatvaṃ svapakṣasyānyataḥ kṣateḥ //
siddhyasiddhyo svapakṣasya siddhā lokavyavasthitiḥ /
tatsiddhyasiddhyostvatpakṣo na kathañcana sidhyati //
pramāṇena pramāṇasya bādhaḥ svavyāhaterhataḥ /
apramāṇena tadbādhe sādhanaṃ ca tato na kim //
apramāṇāt pramāṇādvā mānasiddhirna cenna tat /
yataḥ pramāṇatastasya siddhiḥ svapararakṣiṇī //
bādhābādhavyavasthāpi mānataḥ syādravyavasthitāt /
anyathā tvavyavasthāyā na vyavasthetyavasthiteḥ //
sarvatrānirṇaye na staḥ saṃśayotpattinirṇayau /
yathā tatkoṭitatsiddhistathānyatrāpi yujyate //
dharmisādhāraṇākārakoṭīnāṃ pūrvaniścaye /
asāvayamayaṃ veti hyāvirbhavati saṃśayaḥ //
sarvatra saṃśayastāvanna sarvasyāpi dṛśyate /
sarvaṃ saṃdigdhamiti te nipuṇasyāsti niścayaḥ //
saṃśayaśca na saṃdigdhaḥ saṃdigdhādvaitavādinaḥ /
dūraṃ gatvāpi durvāraḥ saṃśaye nirṇayastava //
mānāmānavibhāge 'taḥ sāmānyena vyavasthite /
kvācitkasaṃśayocchittyai lakṣaṇaṃ saṃpracakṣate //
tatra vyutpattivivakṣābhedāt pramitiṃ tatkaraṇaṃ ca yathecchaṃ pramāṇamāhurityavocāma, āśrayaprāmāṇyasyānādeśikatvāt /
"āptaprāmāṇyāt"---āptoktatvahetoḥ prāmāṇyādityarthaḥ /
na hi vaktṛprāmāṇyaṃ vākyaprāmāṇya upayujyate laukikavākyeṣu; kintu kāraṇadoṣābhāvaḥ /
dvidhāpi pramitireva śodhyā //

vayaṃ tu brūmaḥ--- yathāvasthitavyavahārānuguṇaṃ jñānaṃ prameti /
yathārthakhyātimakhyātimanyathākhyātimeva vā /
icchadbhirna vimantavyamidaṃ lokānusārataḥ //
smṛtimātrāṃpramāṇatvaṃ na yuktamiti vakṣyate /
abādhitasmṛterloke pramāṇatvaparigrahāt //
buddhāgamādityāge ca na hetuḥ smṛtimūlatā //
viśuddhasmṛtimūle 'pi mānavādau prasaṅgataḥ //
bhrāntiṃ pramāto bhindanto na cāhuḥ smṛtimānatām /
smṛtitvameva hi vyaktamaprāmāṇyaṃ bhavanmate //
pītaśaṅkhabhramādau ca na hyetadupapadyate /
cakṣuṣaiva hi śaṅkhādeḥ pītimādeśca tatra dhīḥ //
tataśca pratipattau vā vyavahārodaye 'pi vā /
tathābhāvānyathātvābhyāṃ pramābhrāntitavyavasthitiḥ //
viparyayādervyāvṛttirevameva hi sidhyati /
yatkiñcidanyathātvaṃ hi vaiparītyamitīṣyate //
ātmakhyātyādivādeṣvapyanyathātvamavāritam /
bhramapravṛttibādhāderanyathā na hi saṃbhavaḥ //
evaṃ satyanyathādhīstatsāmagrī vāpi lāghavāt /
ayathāvyavahārasya heturityavaśiṣyate //
sarvairapyanyathākhyātirdustyajatvāllaghīyasī /
tadvādināpyavarjyatvāt tato 'pyakhyātilāghavam //
svārasyamanyathākhyātāvakhyātau lāghavaṃ sthitam /
iti darśayituṃ bhāṣye dvitayaṃ tadanujjhitam /
yannāthamunimiśrādyairyathārthakhyātisādhanam /
tallokabuddhyanārohādvaibhavaṃ kecidūcire //
mānādrūpyādisattve 'pi tayoranyataraddhruvam /
kāryākṣamatvāgrahaṇāt tatkṣamatvagraheṇa vā //
khyātyantarāṇāṃ doṣāstu tattatsiddhāntaśīlane /
svayamevonmiṣantyeva saṃgrahāt kiñciducyate //
tatrātmakhyātau tāvat--- anyadvijñānamastīti dhīranyaviṣayā na vā /
ādyer'thasyāpi tadvaddhīranyatraikaiva dhīrbhavet //
saṃtānāntaravijñānaṃ svasaṃtāne kṣaṇāntaram /
yā dhīḥ sādhayate sā hi svato bāhyaṃ vigāhate //
sahopalambhaniyamaḥ saṃvido grāhyalakṣma ca /
bodhe 'pyartha ivetyevaṃ jñānārthaikyaṃ na tadbhavet //
doṣādihetujālasya mithyāve 'pi yatheṣyate /
adhiṣṭhānasya mithyāve 'pyanivāryastathā bhramaḥ //
tato mādhyamikasyaiva pakṣastatrāvaśiṣyate /
na ca tatrāpi nistāraḥ sarvathānupapattitaḥ //
asattvaṃ laukikaṃ brūṣe lokottaramathāpi vā /
na niṣedho nirupadhiḥ pūrvatrānyanna dhīpadam //
catuṣkoṭivimuktaṃ ca tattvaṃ prāmāṇikaṃ na vā /
pūrvatra tāvatī sattā na cet taddhīrasanmatiḥ //
anyeṣāṃ ca niradhiṣṭhānakhyātau --- atrāsadeva bhavatāmatreti khyāyate na vā /
ādye siddhamadhiṣṭhānaṃ dvitīye khyātyapahnavaḥ //
kiṃ ca svanetraniṣṭhyūtaṃ timiraṃ timirārditaiḥ /
keśastabakasādṛśyāt tathā bhātyevamīdṛśāḥ //
yadyapyavidyamānor'tho vidyamānatayā sphuret /
tathāpyasāvadhiṣṭhānaṃ svadeśādau mito hi saḥ //
idantvena pratīter'the tadāropaṃ pare viduḥ /
tasminnidantvāropaste phalatastulyatā dvayoḥ //
anirvacanīyakhyātau --- anirvācyatayā vastu nirucyeta na vā tvayā /
ādye virodho vividho dvitīye 'smanmatasthitiḥ //
sadasadvyatireko 'pi viruddho yadi gṛhyate /
sadasadrūpatā kiṃ nu pratītā tu na gṛhyate //
anuṣṇāśītavat tucchādbrahmaṇaścātirekitā /
sādhyeta khyātibādhāderyadi siddhaṃ tadatra naḥ //
na ca viśvasya bādho 'pi svarasādupajāyate /
apratiṣṭhitayuktyā tu bādho brahmāpi saṃspṛśet //
nāśāt saditaratvaṃ ca nāśakāle yadīṣyate /
svakāle yadi bādhaḥ syānnāśasyāpyanirūpaṇam //
nityatvena śrutānāṃ ca keṣāṃ cinna hi nāśitā /
bhāgāsiddhastato heturna caikyaṃ nāśabādhayoḥ //
