bāhyāgamaparigrahavat kiṃ nasyāt ? iti cenna, bahujanaparigrahādimātrasya mahājanaparigrahatvenāvivakṣitatvāt, tatpariprahaviśeṣasyaiva vivakṣitatvācca /
tayoḥ ko vā viśeṣaḥ ? iti cenna, hetudarśanādarśanābhyāṃ viśeṣāt /
ananyagatikaiḥ svairarasikaiḥ sukhajīvikārthibhiḥ kuhakavañcitairvā tatparigrahaḥ, iha tu na tathā, tadvaiparītyasya suprasiddhatvāt, iti //
nyā. pa. śa. 21 api ca bāhyāgamapratibandiḥ kiṃ vadeprāmāṇyamāptaprāmāṇyanibandhanamitīcchadbhirvaiśeṣikādibhirucyate ? uta saugatādyāgamaprāmāṇyamicchadbhiḥ ? atha vā parityaktāśeṣapāralaukikāgamairlokāyatikaiḥ ? iti /
nādyaḥ, riśvarakṛtatvepi vedasyaivaṃvidhaparigrahaviśeṣamantareṇādyatanarebāhyāgamebhyo (?) vivekasyāśakyatvāt, sarvajñapraṇītatvādyabhimānasya tadanumānaprakriyāyāśca sarvatra durvāratvāt /
na dvitīyaḥ, abhyupagataprāmāṇye svāgamepi prasaṅgāt /
dṛṣṭaphalasaṃvādasya visaṃvādānyathāsiddheśca sarvatra samacarcatvāt, asmaduktasya nirupādhikaparigrahasya svamate durvacatvāt /
ata eva na tṛtīyaḥ, prāmāṇyasya parokṣaprāmāṇyasya vākyaprāmāṇyasya ca sthāpitatvena vaidikavākye hyautsargike prāmāṇye prāpte nirupādhikaprekṣāvadanantapuruṣaparigrahādevānāptakartṛkatvaśaṅkonmūlane ca vaktṛdoṣaśaṅkānutthānāt, vacasi casvataḥ kācādivaddoṣādarśanāt /
āptakartṛkatvābhāvepyautsargikaṃ prāmāṇyamanapoditam, iti //
nyā. pa. śa. 22 ata eva hi prekṣāvantaraścoditeṣu bahuvittavyayāyāsasādhyeṣu niśaṅkaṃ pravartante, pratiṣiddheṣu ca sukhatareṣvapi viṣasaṃsṛṣṭānnabhojanādivannivartante /
prayogaśca---pāralaukikī mahājanapravṛttiḥ saphalā, prekṣāvatpravṛttitvāt, kṛṣyādipravṛttivat; na hyanantaiḥprekṣāvadbhiravisaṃvādenāphalamanuṣṭhīyate iti śaṅkituṃ śakyam /
duḥkharūphaladarśanena siddhasādhanateti cenna, anabhipretopālambhāt, pravṛttiduḥkhādadhikapuruṣārthaparyavasānasya siṣādhayiṣitatvāt /
tathāpi lābhapūjākhyātirūpadṛṣṭaprayojanenaiva sārthateti cet, tadapyasat, ataduddeśena teṣāṃ pravṛttidarśanāt, taduddeśena pravṛtteśca ḍāmbhikatvena śāstraistanniṣṭhaiśca vigarhaṇāt /
ye ca taduddeśena pravartante, tepyataduddeśena pravṛttānāmanukurvāṇā eva khyātyādi prāpnuvanti, anyathā khyātilābhapūjādernirnimittatvaprasaṅgāt /
na hi yatkiñcidanena kṛtamiti matvā kaścit kṛcchrasaṃpāditān dhanādīn dadāti, pūjayati, guṇānvā āropya stauti; api tu kutaścit pramāṇāt siddhaṃ praśastācaraṇamabhimatyaiva /
samarasāmarthyādimūlalābha jādikamapyantatorthaśāstrādimūlapraśastapravṛttiprasūtam /
ataḥ sanmaryādāpravṛttān dānamānādibhirabhyarcayantoṣpadṛṣṭabuddhyaiva pravartante /
janarañjanārthameva dānādi, jano dātari mānayitari ca rajyate, "janānurāgaprabhavāśca saṃpadaḥ" iti prasiddheḥ, iti cenna, pratyupakārādyanarhapravrajitatapasvijaḍāndhabadhiradīnānāthādiṣu dānamānādibhiranurañjiteṣvapi tanmūladṛṣṭasaṃpatprasaṅgābhāvāt; ata eva hi nītinarmasaciveṣveva tadarthadānādivyavasthāpanam /
pratāraṇapaṭubhirvaindikaiḥ pratāritāstān pūjayantīti cenna /
kiṃ te svātmānamapi pratārayanti? ye nāma samastabhogāvimukhā yāvajjīvamātmānaṃ parikleśayanti; yaiśca paṭuprajñāḥ sarve lokāḥ pratāritāḥ, te kathaṃ lokottaraprajñena tvayā pratārakā ityunnītāḥ /
andhaparamparākalpastarhyayamanuṣṭhānapravāhaḥ iti cenna, pramāṇasvarūpaphalayorabādhasya ca pratyakṣatvāt dharmabuddhyaiva ca nirupādhikaparigrahasya tvaduktyaiva siddhaḥ /
anādinidhanesminnāmnāyamūle anuṣṭhāne pravahati prakriyāntaramāśritya pratārakairīśvarairarvācīnaiśca praticchandapravartanā śrutismṛtisiddhā yuktimatī cetyeṣā dik //
nyā. pa. śa. 23 vedānityatvānumānānāṃ pratiprayogāśca---parvāparakalpāḥ etadvedasandarbhapāṭhavantaḥ, kalpatvāt, adyatanakalpavat /
aiśvaraṃ vedapravartanamapracyutaprācīnasandarbham, āptakartṛkavedapravartanarūpatvāt, adyatananipuṇopādhyāyavedapravartanavat; na cāśrayādyasiddhiḥ, pauruṣeyatvepi prāmāṇyamicchatastata eva tatsiddheḥ /
aprāmāṇyamicchatopi mahājanaparigrahānyathānupapattyaiva prāmāṇyaṃ prasādhya tata eva tatsādhanāt /
na cāsti vedapravartanasya sārasvatapāṭhenānaikāntyam, tathaiva tatpravāhasya tattacchākhāpraṇayanavadanāditvāt, mantrabrāhmaṇādivākyasvarūpavaiyākulīvirahācceti /
evaṃvipakṣe bādhakābhāvādeva kevalavyatirekyapi nirastaḥ, anumānādhyāye tasya sāmānyato dūṣitatvācca /
tvanmatepyāyurvedādisapakṣasadbhāvena tasyāsādhāraṇyam; nahi tebhyo vyāvṛttamapauruṣeyatvādilakṣaṇaṃ vedatvaṃ tvayābhyupagamyate /
vedaśabdaprayogaviṣayatāmātreṇa teṣāmapi pakṣīkāre svecchāgṛhītarūpasyeśvarasya tattadavatārasaṃvyavahārā vedavyatiriktāḥ santi sapakṣāḥ /
na ca te tvayāpi neṣyante, vedatayā vā svīkriyante, gītādiṣu bhagavaduktyaṃśānāṃ śrīviṣṇusmṛtiprabhṛtīnāṃ ca vedatvānabhyupagamāt /
dharmaśāstratayaiva hi vaiṣṇavasmṛtyādiprasiddhiḥ /
avaktṛkasandarbhā vedāḥ, vedatvāt, yaḥ sakartṛkasandarbhaḥ, nāsau vedaḥ, iti pratihetuśca siddhaḥ /
aprasiddhaviśeṣaṇatvādicodyaṃ tviha na tvayā smartavyam /
sandarbhaḥ kathamavavatṛkaḥ syāditi cenna, varṇakramaniyamamātraviśeṣasya sandarbhaśabdena grahaṇāt,tasya ca prāguktanayena yathāpūrvapravartanamātreṇāpi vyavasthānāt /

vītastu syāt vigītaṃ vākyaṃ sarvajñapraṇītaṃ, pramāṇatve satyalaukikārthaviṣayavākyatvāt, "na tvevāhaṃ jātu nāsam" ityādivākyavat, iti cenna, vedārthaviṣayaiḥ kalpasūtrakārādivākyairasmadādivākyaireva vānaikāntyāt /
atīvakartṛkatve satīti viśeṣayiṣyāmaḥ iti cenna, tathāpi yathāpūrvapraṇayanamātreṇāpi tatpraṇītatvasiddhau siddhasādhanāt /
yathāpūrvameva hi viśvamīśvaraḥ sṛjati; yathā adhīmahe--- "sūryācandramasau dhātā yathāpūrvamakalpayat" iti /
evaṃ tarhitulyayogakṣematayā vedavajjagatopyakartṛkatvaṃ prasaktamiti cenna, yathāpūrvaṃ ghaṭādinirmāṇe kulālakuvindādeḥ kartṛtvasiddheḥ; hanta ! vedasya evaṃ syāditi cet, hanta ! syādeva /
na hi kalpāntaravarṇavyaktisamudāyamevedānīntanavedarāśiṃ brūmaḥ, api tu tādṛkkramayogitāmātram /
sarvatra vākyeṣu yatheṣṭakramakalpane puruṣasya svātantryoktiḥ, na punaryathāpuroccāraṇe, iti kāvyādiṣvapi prasiddham /
yadi tvayā ayathāpurapraṇītatvaṃ sādhyeta, tatra yathāpurapraṇayane kamiva doṣāmālakṣyaivaṃ viśeṣayasi ? mantrādiṣu kramabhaṅgānupapattiśca kalpāntarepi tacchaktyanapāyādeva, tathātvepi vā yathāpūrvoccāraṇepi tadanapāyāt, anyathā kalpanāgauravāt, iti //
nyā. pa. śa. 24 tathāpi sargapralayasaṃbhavāt saṃpradāyavicchede sarvavedocchedāt paścādīśvarastatsraṣṭā syāt /
na syāt, tathāpi prācīnavedasākṣātkāriṇastasya tatpravartanamātraucityāt, śaktasyāpi tajjātīyavedāntarakalpane gauravāt, śaktāvapi siddhopajīvanasyāsmadādiṣu dṛṣṭeḥ, eṣāmeva ca mantrāṇāṃ kalpāntarepi mantratvāvirodhāt /
evaṃ mantranityatve ca tulyanyāyatayā brāhmaṇanityatvasyāpi dustyajatvāt, taddṛṣṭāntena vā tannityatvasādhanāt /
sārasvatapāṭhādāvapi mantrādisvarūpabhedābhāvasyoktatvāt /
"yā brahmāṇaṃ vidadhāti pūrvaṃ yo vai vedāṃśca prahiṇoti tasmai /

viśvasantānoyaṃ dṛśyasantānahīnaiḥ samavāyibhirārabdhaḥ, santānatvāt, āraṇeyāgnisantānavat /
vartamānabrahmāṇḍaparamāṇavaḥ pūrvamutpāditasajātīyasantānāntarāḥ, nityatve sati tadārambhakatvāt, pradīpaparamāṇuvat /
parvatā api cūrṇībhaviṣyanti, avayavitvāt, ghaṭavat /
samudrā api śoṣamupayāsyanti, jalāśayatvāt, palvalavat ityādyanumānataḥ, iti cenna, keṣāṃ cinnityasaṃsārapakṣe prathamasya hetostathā tatpratipādakairāgamairaṃśato bādhaḥ, tadvahiṣkāre ca anaikāntaḥ; sarveṣāṃ ca śrutiśatasiddhairnityavibhūtiniṣṭhairīśvaranityavigrahādibhistaistairanekāntaḥ /
na ca tatpakṣīkāraḥ, bādhāsiddhyoranyatarāpātāt /
pratiprayogāśca---gaṇitaviśeṣādisiddhadvipārārdhasaṃkhyāpūrvottarakālo na lokaśūnyaḥ, kālatvāt, adyatanakālavat, ityādayaḥ svayamūhyāḥ //
nyā. pa. śa. 25 vipakṣe bādhakaṃ na samyagdṛśyate /
yaccāgamānugraha eṣāṃ balamityabhimatam, tadāgamapramāṇatvopajīvanam, tathā cāgamata eva pralayādisiddhiḥ /

na garbhavāsasteṣāṃ na vayovasthādayopi ca /

'yo brahmaṇa'miti śratyā sṛṣṭvā brahmāṇamīśvaraḥ /
asmai vedānadatteti pratītirna udeti hi //

atastebhyaḥ purā vedasattvād vedasya nityatā /
anadhītyaiva vedānāmāvirbhāvayitṛtvataḥ //
tapasā prāppaya saṃskārāt tatsūktatvādisaṃbhavaḥ /
tapaḥprabhāvānmatrāṇāmṛṣidarśanasaṃskṛteḥ //
śaktirādhīyate kācidyathāsmākamadhītitaḥ /
arthāvabodhakatvaṃ tu śabdaśaktyānyaśabdavat //
ṛṣidarśanatodhīteparapi śaktyantarodbhavaḥ /
apūrvakāryaniṣpattāvupakuryādidaṃ tataḥ //
kāṭhakādisamākhyāyā nimittaṃ cedameva vā /
prakṛṣṭaṃ vā pravacanaṃ tatsiddhā vedanityatā" //

tathāhi---yathā agnijalādīnāmauṣṇyādiśaktiyogaḥ svābhāvikaḥ; yathā cakṣurādīnāmindriyāṇāṃ buddhijanakatvaśaktiḥ svābhāvikī, tathā śabdasyāpi bodhakatvaśaktiḥ svābhāvikī /
na ca hastaceṣṭādivat saṅketamūlaṃ śabdasya bodhakatvamiti vaktuṃ yuktam, avanādyanusandhānāvicchedepi saṅketayitṛpuruṣājñānāt /
yāni saṅketamūlāni, tāni sarvāṇi sākṣādvā paramparayā vā vijñāyante /
na ca devadattādiśabdavat kalpayituṃ yuktam; teṣu sākṣādvā paramparayāṃ vā saṃketo jñāyate /
gavādiśabdānāṃ tu anādyamusandhānāvicchedepi saṃketājñānādeva bodhakatvaśaktiḥ svābhāvikī /
agnyādīnāmauṣṇyādiśaktivadindriyāṇāṃ bodhakatvaśaktivaccaśabdasyāpi bodhakatvaśaktiravaśyāśrayaṇīyā //
nyā. pa. śa. 29 nanu ca indriyavacchabdasyāpi bodhakatvaṃ svābhāvikaṃ cet, saṃbandhagrahaṃ bodhakatvāya kimityapekṣate ?; liṅgavadityucyate; yathā jñātasaṃbandhaniyamaṃ dhūmādi agnyādibuddhijanakam, tathā jñātasaṃbandhaniyamaḥ śabdopyarthaviśeṣabuddhijanakaḥ /
evaṃ tarhi śabdopyarthaviśeṣasya liṅgamityanumānameva syāt; maivam; śabdārthayoḥ saṃbandho bodhyabodhakabhāva eva /
dhūmādīnāṃ tu saṃbandhāntaramiti, tasya saṃbandhasya jñāpanadvāreṇa buddhijanakatvamiti viśeṣaḥ /
evaṃ gṛhītasaṃbandhasya bodhakatvadarśanādanādyanusaṃdhānāvicchedepi saṃṅketājñānāt bodhakatvavaṃ śaktireveti niścīyate //
evaṃ bodhakānāṃ padasaṃghātānāṃ saṃsargaviśeṣabodhakatvena vākyaśabdābhidheyānāmuccāraṇakramo yatra puruṣabuddhipūrvakaḥ, te pauruṣeyāḥ śabdāḥ ityucyante /
yatra tūccāraṇakramaḥ pūrvapūrvoccāraṇakramajanitasaṃskārapūrvakaḥ sarvadā, apauruṣeyāste vedāḥ ityucyante /
etadeva vedānāmapauruṣeyatvaṃ nityatvaṃ ca, yat pūrvoccāraṇakramajanitasaṃskāreṇa kramaviśeṣaṃ smṛtvā tenaiva krameṇoccāryatvam /
tenānupūrvīviśeṣeṇa tameva saṃsthitā akṣararāśayo vedā ṛgyajuḥsāmātharvabhedena bhinnāḥ anantaśākhā vartanta iti //

evaṃ trivedīvyapadeśepi vivakṣābhedo grāhyaḥ /

na cedameva tallakṣaṇam, "vasantāya" ityevamādyavyāpteḥ /
"vasantāya kapiñjalānālabhante" ityādayastu mantrā api vidhiparā eva mīmāṃsitāḥ /
sakila mantraḥ kriyamāṇānuvādistotraśastrajapyādibhedabhinnaḥ /
paiśācamāgadhāditattadbhāṣāmantrāṇāṃ phalapradatve tattadbījajātyādikaṃ nidānam /
śraddheyadevatānāmāṅkamātraṃ tu na tadakṣaraśaktipratibandhakam; kṣiprakṣudraphalaprakāśanena vipralambhārthaṃ tathaiveśvarādibhiḥ sṛṣṭam /
garuḍādināmāṅkabhāṣāmantreṣu tu tattaddevatāsmṛtyupakārakatvamapyasti /
etena mantravyākaraṇaṃ nirvyūḍham /
ye tu saptakoṭayo mahāmantrāḥ ityāptaśāstrapratiṣṭhitāḥ, te tu praṇavayogāyogādibhirvaidikāḥ tāntrikāḥ iti vibhajyante /
tatra śūdrādhikāratvasidhyarthaṃ tāntrikaparibhāṣā; na punaravaidikatayā, śrautasmārtādibhedavyapadeśavat pramāṇasiddhatvāviśeṣāt /
sarveṣāṃ ca mantrāṇāṃ sadvārakamadvārakaṃ ca paramātmaiva pratipādyaḥ phalapradaśca /
sadvārakeṣu tāvat viniyogabhedād bahudhābrahmaṇi paryavasānam /
tattaddevaśarīratvāt tattadaṃśatayā sthiteḥ /
aindṣādinyāyataścaiṣāṃ sarveṣāmīśvare sthitiḥ //
nyā. pa. śa. 31 vidhyadhīnapravṛttyuttambhakavākyaviśeṣo hyarthavādaḥ /
so 'pi pratyakṣādyaviruddhe svārthe pramāṇam, svataḥ prāmāṇyasyānapāyāt /
yatra virodhadhīḥ, tatrāpyaviruddhārthopacāreṇa tatprāmāṇyam /
sa ca kvācid vidhyekavākyatayā pramāṇībhavatītyarthavādādhikaraṇādiṣu sthāpitam /
svataḥ prayojanabhūtārthaviśeṣaviṣayastu svatantratayāpi prāmāṇyaṃ prāpnotīti samanvayasūtrasiddham /
tatprāptyabhilāṣe tu tadupāyavākyapravṛttiḥ /
sa caturdhā---nindāpraśaṃsāparakṛtipurākalpabhedāt /
niṣedhādiśeṣabhūto niṣedhyādidoṣavādotra nindā /
vidhyādiśeṣabhūto vidheyādiguṇavādaḥ praśaṃsā /
ekānubandhī kathāviśeṣaḥ parakṛtiḥ /
anekānubandhī tu purākalpaḥ //
nyā. pa. śa. 32 hitānuśāsanarūpaṃ vākyamiha vidhiḥ /
sa ca bahuvidhaḥ--- nityanaimittikakāmyasaṃvalitavidhiniṣedhādibhedāt /
niyamaparisaṃkhye api vidhibhedāveva /
tatraivaṃ vivekaḥ--- aprāptasya vidhau prāptirniyame prāptapūraṇam /
bādhastu parisaṃkhyāyāṃ prāptasyaivaikadeśataḥ //
nyā. pa. śa. 33 athātra ko nāma liṅādipratyayārthaḥ ? na tāvadapūrvam, tasmin pramāṇāntarāgocare vyutpattyayogāt, tadgocaratve tu apūrvatvavyāghātāt, liṅādibodhite vyutpattāvitaretarāśrayaprasaṅgāt /
vimarśataḥ siddhiḥ syāditi cenna, vimarśasya smṛtyanubhavātiriktasyānamyupagamāt, kriyākāryevyutpannasya cānvayāyogyatāyāmapi lakṣaṇādibhireva nirbāhyatvāt, abhidhānānyathākaraṇāyogāt, prathamavyutpatterapi sarvatra kārya eveti niyamābhāvāt /
tathā---gāmānayetyādiprayojakavṛddhavākyaśravaṇasamanantaraṃ gavānayane pravṛttaṃ puruṣamālokya pārśvastho vyutpitsuścetanapravṛtteḥ kāryatābuddhipūrvakatvāt prayojyavṛddhakāryatābuddheśca kāraṇāntarādarśanāt yadanantaraṃ yat dṛśyate tattasya kāraṇamiti prayojakavṛddhavākyameva prayojyavṛddhakāryatābuddheḥ kāraṇamityadhyavasyati /
tathā kasyacit 'putraste jātaḥ' iti kenacidukte pratipannaputrotpattestasya priyatvaṃ ca jñāyate /
vyutpitsuḥ putrajanmavākyaśrāviṇaḥ puruṣasya mukhavikāsamālokya tasya priyārthapratiprattinimittatvānumānāt tatpratīteśca kāraṇāntarādarśanāt putrajanamavākyameva kāraṇaṃ kalpayati /
na ca putrajanmanaḥ priyatvaṃ bālenājñātamiti vācyam, prajñātaputrajanmanastasya prauḍhasya bhāṣāntaravat prathamavyutpattāvevaṃ saṃbhavāt, nodāharaṇamādaraṇīyamiti ca nyāyavidaḥ //
nyā. pa. śa. 34 tataśca ye bālānāṃ priyatvena saṃpratipannā bhakṣyabhojyādayaḥ, taddarśī vyutpitsustatsaṃpattiśrāviṇaḥ puruṣasya mukhavikāsadarśanādiprakriyayā vyutpadyata iti kiṃ nopapadyate ? priyāntarasmṛtyādibhirapi mukhe vikāsaḥ saṃbhavatīti cet, tathaiva svayaṃ tadadhīnaprayojanāntarasmaraṇādināpi gavānayanakartavyatābodhaḥ saṃbhavet /
āsatti viśeṣavaśādanekaprayogānugateśca vyavastheti cet, tulyam /
tathāpi tattatpriyānubandhisulagnajanmasukhaprasavasvāduvāktvādiharṣahetvarthāntarasaṃbhāvanayā viśeṣo durniścayaḥ iti cenna, gavānayanepi vatsasaṃyojanakṣīrasaṃpādanādikartavyatābodhakepi vākye tadarthagavānayanasaṃbhavād gāmānametyādivākyaṃ gavānayanakartavyataikabodhakamiti kathaṃ niścinuyāt ? anvayavyatirekamahimavaśād dṛṣṭānugrahācceti cet, tulyam /
tadevaṃ putrajanmavākyodāharaṇasamīkārasya mandamatīnāṃ durārohatvāt tadupekṣaṇena spaṣṭataravyutpattiprakāro yādṛcchiko buddhipūrvaśca bhāṣyakārairdarśitaḥ; tadatra likhyate--- "evaṃ kila bālāḥ śabdārthasaṃbandhamavadhārayanti; mātāpitṛprabhṛtibhirambātātamātulādīn śaśipaśunaramṛgapakṣisarīsṛpādīṃśca enamavehi, imaṃ cāvadhāraya, ityabhiprāyeṇāṅgulyā nirdiśya nirdiśya taistaiḥ śabdaisteṣu teṣu bahuśaḥ śikṣitāḥ śanaiḥ śanaistaireva śabdaisteṣu teṣvartheṣu svātmanāṃ budhdyutpattiṃ dṛṣṭvā śabdārthayoḥ saṃbandhāntarādarśanāt saṅketayitṛpuruṣājñānācca teṣvartheṣu teṣāṃ śabdānāṃ prayogo bodhakatvanibandhana iti niścinvanti /
punaśca vyutpannetaraśabdeṣvasya śabdasyāyamartha iti pūrvavṛddhaiḥ śikṣitāḥ sarvaśabdānāmarthamavagamya parapratyāyanāya tattadarthāvabodhi vākyajātaṃ prayuñjate /
prakārāntareṇāpi śabdārthasaṃbandhāvadhāraṇaṃ suśakam---kenacit puruṣeṇa hastaceṣṭādinā 'pitā te sukhamāste, iti devadattāya jñāpaya'" iti preṣitaḥ kaścit tajjñāpane pravaṛttaḥ 'pitā te sukhamāste' iti śabdaṃ prayuṅkte; pārśvasthonyo vyutpitsurmūkavacceṣṭāviśeṣajñaḥ tajjñāpane pravṛttamimaṃ jñātvānugataḥ tajjñāpanāya prayuktamimaṃ śabdaṃ śrutvā, ayaṃ śabdastadarthabuddhiheturiti niścinotīti kāryārtha eva vyutpattiriti nirbandho nirnibandhanaḥ" iti //
nyā. pa. śa 35 atra pitā te sukhamāsta iti vākyasya sthāne apavarake daṇḍaḥ sthitaḥ ityudāharaṇāntaramātramanyatroktam /
ataḥ siddhāsiddhepyādyavyutpattiḥ /
bhavatu vā prathamavyutpattiḥ kārya eva, tathāpi prayogānvayavyatirekavaśādeva śabdaśaktirvivecanīyā /
prayujyante ca siddhaparā evāvivakṣitakartavyaiḥ śabdāḥ; yathā--- kosau rājā ? kauravaḥ /
kautukamātrādeva hyatra praśnaḥ, prativacanaṃ ca tadanuvidhāyyeva /
ato yathā padānāṃ prātisvikī śaktiḥ siddhe kāryepīti yathāsaṃbhavaṃ niṣkṛṣyate, tathā tātparyamapi, yathāyogameva vyutpattyupāyatvepi ca kāryasya sarvaśabdatātparyaviṣayatvāyukteḥ /
kāryavākyepi pravartakatvādilakṣaṇaṃ ca prādhānyamapūrvasya mṛgyam, sukhaduḥkhābhāvābhyāmatiriktasya svataḥ svasmin pravartakatvāyogāt, vyutpattidaśāyāmapyasukharūpasyānayanāderanyaśeṣatayaiva pravṛttiśeṣatvāvagamāt /
ataḥ sukhe duḥkhanivṛttau vā sākṣāt kāryatvabodhaḥ; tadarthatayā tatsādhane /
apekṣitatvena ca sādhanavat sādhanasādhanepi kāryatābodhopapattiḥ /
na ca sukhāditvamapūrvasya; na ca tatsādhanatayā tatpravartakatvamabhyupagatam /
abhyupagamepi laukikasevyaprītyeva devatāprītyaiva śrutyādisiddhayā kālāntarabhāviphalasiddhauliṅvācyatayā svarūpeṇa vā tatkalpanāyogāt, rātrisatrādinayācca /
pratiṣṭhādeśaviśeṣaśatayātanāsādhanatvaghṛtāñjanacchāgādiparigrahavat vidhyapekṣitaṃ pratītaṃ ca devatāprītyātmakamevāpūrvaṃ liṅvācyatayā svarūpeṇa vā dvāramupakalpyatām; kimanyena ? //
nyā. pa. śa. 36 yacca jalpantyardhalokāyatikāḥ--- "vigraho havirādānaṃ yugapat karmasannidhiḥ /
prītiḥ phalapradānaṃ ca devatānāṃ na vidyate" //
iti, tadapi jaiminihṛdayānabhijñatānibandhanam; na hi svataḥ pramāṇāmnāyasmṛtipurāṇādisiddhāḥ sādhakabādhakapramāṇāgocarāḥ devatāvigrahādayo hātuṃ yuktāḥ /
na cāyogyeṣvanupalambhamātreṇa bādhaḥ śaṅakyaḥ, atiprasaṅgitvāt, sākṣāllokāyatikavādaprasaṅgāt /
stutyā vidhiśeṣabhūteṣvapyarthavādeṣu tadarthatayaiva svārthamabhidadhāneṣu na vākyabhedādidoṣaḥ /
stutyādiparatvepi na mukhyārthabādhaḥ, svārthabādhakābhāvo svārthaprahāṇāyogāt; na ca sarvā stutirayathārthā; na cāsatā guṇena kathitena stutisiddhiḥ /
yatra tu mukhyārthabādhaḥ, tatrāpyaipacārikaṃ kiñcidālambanamabhipretam; anyathā viḍambanamātrameva syāt /
na copacchandanamātratā, tajjñāne puṃsaḥ pravṛttyanupakārāt, nirūpakasya ca tadajñānāyogāt, anyathā bhrāntimūlapravṛttitvaprasaṅgāt; samanvayādhikaraṇanayācca siddhaikaparāḥ santi bhāgāḥ /
tadanudhāvinaścetihāsapurāṇādayaḥ //
nyā. pa. śa. 37 nanvarthavādādhikaraṇe "vidhinā tvekavākyatvāt stutyarthena vidhīnāṃ syuḥ" iti sarveṣāmarthavādānāṃ vidhyekavākyatvamuktam; samanvayasūtre tu kathaṃ tadviruddhoktiḥ ? maivam; arthavādāprāmāṇyapūrvapakṣapratikṣepāya vidhyekavākyatayā prāmāṇyaṃ saṃbhavatītyetāvanmātramarthavādādhikaraṇe sthāpitam /
vidhyekavākyatve brahmasvarūpatātparyābhāvapūrvapakṣastu apavarakanidhisadbhāvādivākyavat svataḥprayojanabhūtārthaviṣayavākyānāṃ bhinnavākyatayāpi prāmāṇyamupapādya samanvayasūtre pratikṣipyata iti virodhābhāvāt /
api cautsargiṅkamāpavādikañca taṃ tamarthaṃ pratipādayatsu vākyeṣu viṣayavyavasthayā virodhaśamanaṃ vyākaraṇādiṣvapi dṛṣṭamiti /
ata eva brāhmaṇaśeṣā arthavādā ityārṣamapi vākyamautsargikaviṣayamavagantavyam /
yā tu śabdabhāvanaiva liṅādyartha iti kaumārilakusṛtiḥ, sā tu pratītiviṃsavādādipratihatā; na hi vidhivākyaśrāvī puruṣaḥ, liṅādi svavyāpāramabhidhatte, ato mayā pravartitavyamiti manyate /
na ca yāgādisvarūpe liṅādivyāpāre ca kenacid vākyena samuccitya pratipāditepi kaścit pravartamāno dṛśyate /
liṅādeśca jñāyamānatvalakṣaṇavyāpāramātrācchaktilakṣaṇavyāpārādvā pravartakatve vyutpatteḥ prāgapi tataḥ pravṛttiprasaṅgaḥ; vyutpatterapi sahakāritve tatsāpekṣāyā nirviṣayāyāstasyā asaṃbhavāt tadviṣayo vācyaḥ /
na ca svavyāpāre liṅādiḥ kvacid vyutpannaḥ /
sarveṣāmapi śabdānāṃ svavyāpārātirikta eva hyarthe vyutpatti /
ye cābhidhādayaḥ śabdāḥ, tepi na śṛṅgagrāhikayā svavyāpāramabhidadhati; api tu śabdamātravyāpāre tatpravṛtteḥ sāmānyopādhikroḍīkāreṇa svavyāpārasyāpi niveśaḥ; ata evābhidhādiśabdābhidheyasya nimittasya ca sāmānyataḥ pratipannatvād vyutpattyupapattiḥ /
liṅādestu svavyāpāre pratīte tatra vyutpattiḥ syāt; tatpratītirvyutpannena cet, anyonyāśrayaḥ; avyutpannena cet, atiprasaṅgaḥ, iti /
na ceṣṭasādhanatvamātraṃ liṅādibodhyam, 'taveṣṭa sādhanamidam, ateḥ kuru' iti sahaprayogadarśanāt /
na cādarādinibandhanā punaruktiriyam, pratīteratathātvāt, hetusādhyanirdeśāyogācca /
'kartavyamidam, ataḥ kuru ityapi dṛśyate, iti cenna, brāhmaṇasya kartavyamidam, atastavāpi kartavyamitivat sāmanyaviśeṣādivivakṣāyā avirodhāt, atyantaikārthavivakṣāyāṃ tu tatrāpi prayogāyogāt /
ata eva āptasya vakturicchāmātraṃ liṅādyarthaḥ, iti pratyuktam; āptasyeṣṭamidam, atā mamedaṃ kāryam iti pravartamānapuruṣābhilāpaviśeṣadarśanāt /
na ca liṅārthatvādeva nimantraṇādivad vidhirapi vaktrabhiprāyamātramiti vācyam, saṃbhāvanādibhirviśeṣavihitaiścānaikāntyāt; ekaśabdavācyatāmātreṇaikatve cānekārthaśabdabhaṅgaprasaṅge dṛṣṭāntopi na sidhyet /
yadyapi paramate hyudayanoktā niṣedhānupapattiḥ, tathāpi na sāsmatpakṣamavagāhate, kartavyatāyā vidhyarthatve na kartavya iti nañanvayāvirodhāt; kartṛvyāpārasādhyatvameva ca kartavyatvam; tathāhi vedārthasaṅgahe "liṅādeḥ koyamarthaḥ parigṛhītaḥ"' iti praśnapūrvakaṃ pratyuktam--- "yaja devapūjāyām, iti devatārādhanabhūtayāgādeḥ prakṛtyarthasya kartṛvyāpārasādhyatāṃ vyutpattisiddhāṃ liṅādayobhidadhatīti na kiñcidanupapannam, kartṛvācināṃ pratyayānāṃ prakṛtyarthasya kartṛvyāpārasaṃbandhaprakāro hi vācyaḥ; bhūtavartamānatādimanye vadanti, liṅādayastu kartṛvyāpārasādhyatāṃ vadanti" iti /
bhāṣye cādyasūtre---"ato vidhivākyeṣvapi dhātvarthasya kartṛvyāpārasādhyatāmātraṃ śabdānuśāsanasiddhameva liṅādervācyamityadhyavasīyate, dhātvarthasya ca yāgāderagnyādidevatāntaryāmiparamapuruṣasamārādhanarūpatā, samārādhitāt paramapuruṣāt phalasiddhiśceti 'phalamata upapatteḥ' iti pratipādayiṣyate" iti /
atra kartṛvyāpārasādhyatāmātramiti niṣkṛṣṭārthapradarśanāyoktam; pratipattiprakārastu yajetetyādau svavyāpārasādhyayāgādiviśiṣṭaḥ iti kartṛprādhānyenaiva /
yathoktaṃ dīpe kartradhikaraṇai--- "yajeta, upāsīta, iti hi kartari lakāraḥ, ataḥ kartārameva bodhayati śāstram" iti /
uktaṃ ca vedārthasaṃgrahepi-- "svargakāmo yajeta, ityevamādiṣu lakāravācyakartṛviśeṣasamarpakāṇāṃ svargakāmādipadānāṃ niyojyaviśeṣasamarpakatvaṃ śabdānuśāsanāviruddham" iti /
yadyapi dīpagranthaḥ puṃsaḥ kartṛtvaṃ śrutisiddhamityatraiva tatparaḥ, tathāpi dhātvarthasādhyatāparaliṅādiṣvapi kartapradhānatayā vṛttiṃ pradarśya sāṃravyān pratikṣipatīti tādarthyāt tatrāpi tatparatvameva grāhyam /
pacatītyādau pākaṃ karotītyādinipuṇavyākriyāśca kṛtikarmatayaiva dhātvarthasyānvayaṃ vyañjayanti //
nyā. pa. śa. 38 śrīgītābhāṣye caitad vyañjitam--- 'yudhyasva' ityatra 'yuddhākhyaṃ karmārabhasva' iti vyākhyānāt /
vyākaraṇāt karaṇatayā ca dhātvarthasyānvaye kathaṃ kriyāviśeṣaṇasya karmavibhaktyantatā ? na hi viśeṣyeṇa viśeṣaṇaṃ bhāvayedityanveti, phalasyāpūrvasya vā bhavadbhirbhāvyatvābhyupagamāt; vartamānavyapadeśādiṣu ca sādhyāntarābhāvepi na viśeṣaṇamātraṃ sādhyam, na ca prathamāntaṃ kiyāviśeṣaṇam; karaṇapakṣepi dhātvarthenānanvayaprasaṅgāt, ananvitaviśeṣaṇatādyanupapatteḥ /
na cākarmavibhaktyantena dhātunā karmavibhaktyantasya kathaṃ sāmānādhikaraṇyamiti vācyam, karaṇavibhaktyantenāpyasāmānādhikaraṇyaprasaṅgāt, na ca prapavatīyamāne karmatvenānvaye kaściddoṣo dṛśyate, priyaṅgukāmaḥ kṛṣiṃ kuryāditivat svargakāmo yāgaṃ kuryāditi vākyārthepi virodhābhāvāt, tadvadevārthatastasya tadupāyatvasiddheḥ keneti karaṇākāṅkṣāyā api śamanāt /
nāmadheyagatatṛtīyānvayopi nāvaśyaṃ sāmānādhikaraṇyena, tattannāmakaiḥ karmaviśeṣaiḥ devatāpūjāṃ kuryādityevaṃparatvepi svarasānvayāt, sāmānyaviśeṣarūpeṇa vyadhikaraṇanirdeśopapatteḥ /
cāṭuvādena rājānaṃ prīṇayeditivād yāgaṃ kuruṣvetyādau na kṛñarthasyāpi sādhyatvaprasaṅgaḥ, tasyaiva kartṛvyāpārarūpatve tatsādhyatvāyogāt, prakṛtipratyayoranyatarasya kṛtāvudāsīnatvāt, ekaḥ, dvau, bahavaḥ, ityādivat /
tatrāpi yadā karmatāṃ vivakṣati, tadāpi kartṛvyāpārāntaramabhipretya vā, bhedopacāreṇa vā nirvāhaḥ; yathā---udakāharaṇakriyāṃ karotītyādau /
na ca tāvatānavasthā, pratītyanāroheṇa vyavahārasya paryavasitatvāt /
agnihotraṃ juhotītyādiprayogaścāsmatpakṣānukūlaḥ /
ataḥ, kiṃ, kena, kathamiti bhavatproktavat, kimarthaṃ, kiṃ, kena, kathamityākāṅkṣācatuṣṭaye svargādinā kimarthamityākāṅkṣāpūraṇam, devatāṃ prīṇayediti kimityākāṅkṣānaśāntiḥ, jyotiṣṭomenetyādināmadheyādibhiḥ kenetyākāṅkṣā pūryate, kathamityākāṅkṣāpūraṇaṃ tu bhavatāmasmākaṃ ca tulyameveti śābdoyaṃ panthāḥ /
atastattadadhikāriṇaḥ svasādhyadhātvarthaviśiṣṭatābodhini yajetetyādau tattaddhātvarthānuṣṭhāne phalam ananuṣṭhāne pratyavāyaśca sarvapraśāsituḥ saṅkalpād bhavatītyapi vākyādavagatam /
avāntaradevatābuddhivṛttiviśeṣastu sadvārakayajate śrāddhabhojipuruṣaprītyādivadānuṣaṅgikaḥ, anyathā kalpāntarādiṣu pralīnaprācīnadevatāgaṇeṣu pūrvakalpānuṣṭhitakarmaphalānutpattiprasaṅgāt /
ata eva hyekasyaiva śrutirājñā; anyeṣāṃ cārādhakatvavadārādhyatvamapi tadāyattamiti /
nārāyaṇāryaistvevamuktam--- "āptasya hitakāmasya niyogaṃ kecidūcire /
bhāṣyakāropi bhagavānetadevānvamanyata" //

atra ca "svaśāsanāvabodhi śāstraṃ ca pradiśya" iti bhāṣyamabhisaṃhitam /
idaṃ ca vidhiniṣedhānuvartanātivartanaprayuktanigrahānugrahavacanabalāt siddham /
"śrutiḥ smṛtirmamaivājñā yastāmullaṅghya vartate /
ājñācchedī mama drohī madbhaktopi na vaiṣṇavaḥ" //
iti //
'vidhiḥ preraṇam' iti ca vyākāri vaiyākaraṇaiḥ /
preraṇaṃ ca śāsanameva /
tattvaratnākarakāraiścaivamuktam--- "kriyā tacchaktirvā kimapi tadapūrvaṃ pitṛsura- prasādo vā kartuḥ phalada iti raṅgeśa kudṛśaḥ /
tvadarceṣṭāpūrte phalamapi bhavatprītijamiti trayīvṛddhāstattadvidhirapi bhavatpreraṇamiti //
" nityanaimittikādividhibhedeṣu ca praśāsiturabhiprāyaviśeṣāḥ vyañjitāḥ--- "ājñā te sanimittanityavidhayaḥ svargādikāmyadvidhiḥ sonujñā śaṭhacittaśāstravaśatopāyobhicāraśrutiḥ /
sarvā yasya samastaśāsituraho śrīraṅgarājasya te rakṣākūtanivedinī śrutirapi tvannityaśāstistataḥ" //
iti /
api ca vedārthasaṅgahepyupāttaṃ draviḍabhāṣyam--- "svaśāsanānuvartino jñātvā kāruṇyāt svabhāvācchraddhayait vidvān karmadakṣaḥ" iti /
anantaraṃ cāyamevārtho bhagavadgītāyāmapi darśitaḥ--- "ye me matamidaṃ nityamanutiṣṭhanti mānavāḥ /
śraddhāvantonasūyanto mucyante tepi karmabhiḥ //
ye tvetadabhyasūyanto nānutiṣṭhanti me matam /
sarvajñānavimūḍhāṃstān viddhi naṣṭānacetasaḥ //
iti svājñānuvartinaḥ praśasya viparītān vinindan punarapi svajñānupālanamakurvatāmāsuraprakṛtyantarbhāvamabhidhāyādhamā gatiścoktetir idṛśa eva vidhiśabdārtho vedāntibhiḥ svīkṛtaḥ" iti /
parepi kecidanvavādiṣuḥ /
ato mūlaskandhīkṛtaniyogaṃ dhātvarthasya kartṛvyāpārasādhyatvaṃ vā nirviṣayapreraṇāsaṃbhavāt tatsādhyatvaparyantaṃ preṣaṇameva vā liṅādyasādhāraṇārthaḥ, iti sthite "vidhinimantraṇāmantraṇādhīṣṭasaṃpraśnaprārthaneṣu liṅ" iti samabhivyāhṛtanimantraṇādisamānayogakṣematayā vidhiśabdārthatayā vyākṛtasya preṣaṇasyaiva liṅādiśabdavācyatvaṃ yuktamiti /
anyathāpi preṣaṇamantargatamevetyapare //
nyā. pa. śa. 39 idaṃ ca vidhivākyānāmīśvaraśāsanātmakatvaṃ jaiminināpi sūcitameva--- "codanālakṣaṇortho dharmaḥ" iti /
codanāśabdo hi codakaṃ kañcit puruṣaṃ sūcayati /
ahṛdayādapi śābarodāharaṇādidaṃ vyajyate--- "ācāryacoditaḥ karomīti hi dṛśyate" iti //
nyā. pa. śa. 40 evaṃ codanāśabdasūcitaśca puruṣaḥ svavākyena prāgeva viśeṣato darśitaḥ /
apica autpattikasūtre "tasya jñānamupadeśaḥ" ityasūtrayat /
upadeśopi hi upadeṣṭāramākṣipati /
"tatpramāṇaṃ bādarāyaṇasya" iti sūtrakhaṇḍe ca svasya svācāryabhūtabādarāyaṇasamānābhiprāyatvaṃ vyañjitam /
sa ca bādarāyaṇo jaiminiṃ svaśiṣyamabhyupagateśvarāditattvaṃ "sākṣādapyavirodhaṃ jaiminiḥ" ityādiṣu bahuṣu sūtreṣvadarśayat /
pratikṣepastu kvācitkaḥ anyaparoktyāpātapratītārthamandamatimohanirāsārtho vā kṣudrapramādamātrasyāpyuddhārārtho veti na pradhānavirodhakalpanaliṅgam /
arthavādādhikaraṇe ca "vidhinā tvekavākyatvāt stutyarthena vidhīnāṃ syuḥ" iti preraṇarūpavidhipratipādakaliṅādyavayavadvārā samudāyabhūtaṃ vidhyuddeśavākyaṃ lakṣayitvā tadekavākyatvamarthavādānāṃ vadan kṛtsnasya vedasyeśvarājñārūpavidhipratipādakatvaṃ tadvākyakaṇṭhoktamasūcayat /
evamanyatrāpi bhāvyam //
nyā. pa. śa. 41 evaṃ śrutistāvadīśvarājñā, tadanuvidhānāt smṛtirapi /
brāhmaṇamantrārthavādamayā hyanantā vedāḥ saṅkīrṇā vikīrṇāḥ kvacit kadācidutsannāśca /
tatra kṛtsnavedino manvādayastattaddeśakālaviśeṣeṣvakṛtsnavedināṃ tattvānuṣṭhānaviplavapraśamanāya svānubhūtān vedārthān yathāvannibadhnanti; atastanmūlonādivācāmarthanirṇayaḥ /
śrutismṛtivirodhe tu smṛtyā mūlāntarānumānādanuṣṭhānavikalpaṃ kecidāhuḥ /
sarveṣāṃ guṇatrayavatāmāptatamatvepi kvācitkabhramasaṃbhavācchrutyā smṛtibādhaḥ, ityapare /
tattvaviṣanaye tu virodhe bādha eva, ānyaparyaṃvā, vastuni vikalpāsaṃbhavāt /
smṛtidvayavirodhe tu parigrahatāratamyādibhirvyavasthā /
na ca kvacit smṛtīnāmaprāmāṇye sarvatrānāśvāsaḥ, bādhakādarśanāt, kāraṇadoṣakḷpteśca niyataliṅgābhāvāt, saṃvādabhūyastvādibhiḥ parigrahānyathānupapattyā ca śrutereva mūlatvakalpanopapatteḥ; anyathā pauruṣeyavākyasya sarvasyāprāmāṇyaprasaṅge vilīnamāgamena /
na caitannāniṣṭamiti vaktuṃ śakyam, pitrādyāptavākyaṃ pramāṇīkṛtya cāvārkasya pravṛttidarśanāt /
na ca kvācitkasaṃvādamātreṇa bāhyāgameṣvapi visrambhāvakāśaḥ, pratyakṣaśrutivirodhabhūyastvena vaidikaparigrahābhāvena vedabāhyatvaprasiddhyā vedapratikṣepācca vedākhyamūlakalpanasyāśakyatvāt /
na cālaukikaṃ pratyakṣādimūlatvasaṃbhavaḥ /
yogajasākṣātkāramūlatvakḷptirapi vedāviruddhasthale syāt; na ca tatrāpi niścayaḥ, viparītopalambhasyāpi saṃbhavāditi /
tataśca vedamūlāḥ smṛtayasnividhāḥ---dharmaśāstretihāsapurāṇabhedāt /
tatrādyayoradūraviprakarṣādekavidyāsthānaniveśaḥ /
atra cādhikṛtānadhikṛtavibhāgena balābalaniyatirābhāsāhnike darśitā; purāṇeṣvapi sāttvikarājasādivibhāgaśca //
nyā. pa. śa. 42 yānipunaḥ sāṃkhyayogapāśupatapañcarātrāṇi, tānyapi dharmaśāstrabhedā eva;pariśuddhātmacintanarūpajñānayogapradarśanādhikṛtaṃ śāstraṃ sāṃkhyam; samādhiparyantakarmayoganiṣṭhaṃ śāstraṃ yogaḥ; pratibuddhetaraviṣayapaśupatibhajanapratipādakaṃ pāśupatam; pratibuddhaviṣayabhagavadananyabhajanopadeśapravṛttaṃ tu śāstraṃ pañcarātram /
etāni ca kvacit kvacidaṃśe parasparopajīvīni /
parasparavirodhe tu vedānusāreṇa balābalavyavasthā, vedaviruddhe tvaṃśe bādhaḥ /
pramādasyānīśvareṣu sarveṣu saṃbhavāt /
vipralambhasya tu asurādivyāmohanodyate sākṣādīśvare 'pi; yathoktaṃ bhagavataiva--- "tvaṃ hi rudrapa mahābāho mohaśāstrāṇi kāraya /
alpāyāsaṃ darśayitvā phalaṃ śīghraṃ pradarśaya //
ahaṃ mohaṃ kariṣyāmi yo manaṃ mohayiṣyati /
" iti //
ato yat sāṃkhyar iśvarānadhiṣṭhitapradhānādipratipādanam, yacceśvaramabhyupagamya kevalanimittakāraṇatvapratiphalanakalpaiśvaryavarṇanaṃ yoge, yacca pāśupate parāvaratattvavyatyayavedaviruddhācārādikalpanam, tat sarvaṃ vyapohya śiṣṭe ḥṃśe prāmāṇyaṃ grāhyam /
na caitat tuṣataṇḍulavibhāgavadalpajñaiḥ śakyam /
ato hi śārīrake trayāṇāṃ nirāsaḥ /
pañcarātraṃ tu kṛtsnaṃ śrutivat smṛtivadvā pramāṇam, pratyakṣaśrutyādivirodhābhāvāt /
mahābhārate ca āptatama mānavadharmaśāstrasyāpi tanmūlatvokteratyādareṇa vyāsadiparigrahaviśeṣādīśvaradayāmūlatvena ca kāraṇadoṣaprasaṅgābhāvāt /
"vedānteṣu yathāsāraṃ saṃgṛhya bhagavān hariḥ /
bhaktānukampayā vidvān saṃcikṣepa yathāsukham" //
iti ca tatraiva vyakteḥ /
vedaprāmāṇyāṅgīkāratadarthoktibhūyastvatadvaiśadyahetutvavacanasādhuparitrāṇārthatvasattvottaranāradādiśrotṛkatvādinibandhanaspaṣṭaprāmāṇyatvāt /
na ca vipralambhārthaṃ tathā nibandhaḥ, anyatrāpi prasaṅgāt;"adhītā bhagavan vedāḥ" ityāderdurgrahatvamātratātparyeṇa vedanindādirūpatvābhāvāt /
nindārūpatvepyuditahomanindāvanninditetarapraśaṃsanapravṛtteḥ /
"saṅkarṣaṇo nāma jīvo jāyata" ityādestvavatārādigocaratvasya tatraiva siddheḥ /
śarīrake ca--- "utpattyasaṃbhavāt""na ca kartuḥ karaṇam" iti sūtradvayena pūrvapakṣaṃ kṛtvā "vijñānādibhāve vā tadapratiṣedhaḥ" "vipratiṣedhācca" iti tatprāmāṇyapratiṣedhaḥ parihṛtaḥ /
tathā nirmūlatvāsatparigrahasatparigrahābhāvavaudikasaṃskāravarjanāvaidikasaṃskāravidhānavidyāsthānaparigaṇanābhāvakṣudravidyābāhulyādimandaśaṅkānāṃ bhagavadyāmunamunibhiḥ parihāraḥ prapañcitaḥ iti neha pratanyate //
nyā. pa. śa. 43 evaṃ sākṣādīśvaradayāmūlatvānmanvādinibandhanebhyosyātirekaḥ /
teṣāṃ śrutivirodhe sati bādhyatvamapi saṃbhavet /
guṇatrayavaśyatayā kādācitkabhramādisaṃbhavāt /
smṛtyādīnāṃ hi śrutimūlatayaiva prāmāṇyamiti bhāṣyepyuktaṃ "taduparyapi" ityadhikaraṇe-- "saṅkīrṇabrāhmaṇamantrārthavādamūleṣu dharmaṃśāstretihāsapurāṇeṣu" iti //
nyā. pa. śa. 44 tata eva caiṣāṃ viprakīrṇaśākhāmūlatvaṃ siddhāntaḥ, ityapi sūcitam /
kvacit kadācit keṣāñcicchākhāviśeṣāṇāmucchedaḥ; te ca punarvyāsādibhiḥ kvacit kadācit pravartyante, ityetāvatā ucchinnaśākhāmūlatvamastu /
uktaṃ ca bhagavatā āpastambena--- "teṣāmutsannāḥ pāṭhāḥ prayogādanumīyante" iti /
manvādivacanaprāmāṇyaṃ nyāyamantareṇāpi śrutyaiva siddham--- "yadvai kiñca manuravadat tadbheṣajam" ityādibhiḥ /
evaṃ śiṣṭācārasyāpi--- "yathā te tatra varteran, tathā tratra vartarthoḥ" "yānyasmākaṃ sucaritāni, tāni tvayopāsyāni" ityādibhiḥ /
smṛtiśca--- "smṛtiśīle ca tadvidām /
ācāraścaiva sādhūnām" ityādi /
śrutyaiva dharmanirṇaye saṃbhavati kiṃ dharmaśāstreṇa ? ityāśaṅkyāha marīciḥ --- "durbodhā vaudikāḥ śabdāḥ prakīrṇatvācca ye khilāḥ /
tajjñaista eva spaṣṭārthāḥ smṛtitantre pratiṣṭhitāḥ" //
iti satyapi dharmaśāstre gṛhyāpekṣāṃ darśayati devalaḥ--- "manvādayaḥ prayoktāro dharmaśāstrasya kīrtitāḥ /
tatprayuktaprayoktāro gṛhyakārāḥ svamantrataḥ" //
iti /
ato dharmaśāstragṛhyādisāpekṣatvaṃ vedārthanirṇayasya /
virodhe ca yathāyogaṃ balābalavyavasthā siddhā /
bhagavaddharmaśāstrasya tu pañcarātrasya śrutyādivirodhe ṣoḍaśigrahaṇāderiva deśakālādhikāryavasthāviśeṣaviṣayatayā vikalpa eva, śruterivāsyāpi doṣasaṃbhāvanāvirahādisiddheḥ /
āhuścaivamabhiyuktāḥ--- "vede kartrādyabhāvāt" ityārabhya, "tasmāt sāṃkhyaṃ sayogaṃ sapaśupatimataṃ kutracit pañcarātraṃ sarvatraiva pramāṇaṃ tadidamavagataṃ pañcamādeva vedāt" //
iti /
anyatra ca--- upaniṣadi tu bahvyāṃ vyāvaghoṣyāmadoṣa- pratihataguṇarāśirghuṣyate tārkṣyaketuḥ /
śrutirapi tadupajñaiḥ pañcarātrairvikalpaṃ na labhata iti sūktaṃ bhāṣyakṛdyāmunāryaiḥ" //

tadetat yāmunācāryairāgamaprāmāṇye saṃbhāvitasamastapūrvapakṣayuktinirākaraṇena /
prapañcitam /
tadanusāreṇaiva bhāṣyakāraiḥ śrīpāñcarātrādhikaraṇaṃ vyākhyātam /
"śrutimūlamidaṃ tantraṃ pramāṇaṃ kalpasūtravat /
" ityādi vacanaṃ tu trayyantamūlatayā ekāyanaśrutimūlatayā ca yojyam /
na cātra vedatve sandegdhavyam, "yaṃ vākeṣvanuvākeṣu niṣatsūpaniṣatsu ca /
mahato vedavṛkṣasya mūlabhūto mahānayam //
skandhabhūtā ṛgādyāste śākhābhūtāstathā mune /
" ityādivacanāt /
tathā ṛgvedapāṭhe paṭhitam--- "vratametat suduścaram" iti saṃvādapradarśanāt, vedaśākhāvyāsadaśāyāṃ niruktaśākhāyā api gaṇitatvāt, bhagavacchāstrasārabhūtasāttvatapauṣkarādiṣu rahasyāmnāyavidhāne "ekāyanīyaśākhoktairmantraiḥ paramapāvanaiḥ /
" ityādibhiḥ tacchrutitpratipādanāt /
atra bhagavadyāmunamunibhirevokto grantho likhyate--- "yadapyuktam--- 'garbhādhānādidāhāntasaṃskārāntarasevanāt bhāgavatānāma brāhmaṇyam' iti, tatrāpyajñānamevāparādhyati, na punarāyuṣmato doṣaḥ; yata ete vaṃśaparamparayā vājasaneyaśākhāmadhīyānāḥ kātyāyanādigṛhyoktamārgeṇa garbhādhānādisaṃskārān kurvate, ye punaḥ sāvitryanuvacanaprabhṛti trayīdharmātyāgena ekāyanaśrutivihitāneva catvāriṃśatsaṃskārān kurvate, tepi svaśākhāgṛhyoktadharmaṃ yathāvadanutiṣṭhamānā na śākhāntarīyakarmānanuṣṭhānāt brāhmaṇyāt pracyavante, anyeṣāmapi parasparaśākhāvihitakarmānanuṣṭhānanimittābrāhmaṇyaprasaṅgāt; sarvatra hi jāticaraṇagotrādhikārādivyavasthitā eva samayācārā upalabhyante /
yadyapi sarvaśākhāpratyayamekaṃ karma, tathāpi na parasparavilakṣaṇādhikārisambaddhā dharmāḥ kvacit, samuccīyante /
vilakṣaṇāstrayīvihitasvargaputrādiviṣayopabhogasādhanaindrāgneyādikarmādhikāribhyo dvijebhyastrayyantaikāyanaśrutivihitavijñānābhigamanopādānejyāprabhṛtibhagavatprāptyekopāyakarmādhikāriṇo mumukṣavo brāhmaṇāḥ, iti nobhayeṣāmapyanyonyaśākhāvihitakarmānanuṣṭhānamabrāhmaṇyamāpādayati /
yathā ca ekāyanaśākhāyā apauruṣeyatvam, tathā kāśmīrāgamaprāmaṇyaṃ eva prapañcitamiti neha prastūyate /
prakṛtānāṃ tu bhāgavatānāṃ sāvitryanuvacanāditrayīsambandhasya sphuṭataramu palabdhirna tattyāganimittavrātyatvādisandehaṃ sahate" iti //
nyā. pa. śa. 45 caturvidhaṃ cedaṃ pañcarātram--- āgamasiddhāntaḥ, divyasiddhāntaḥ, tantrasiddhāntaḥ, tatrāntarasiddhāntaśceti /
caturvidhaṃ cedaṃ vedamūlabhūtāṃśasya upabṛṃhaṇam; tadabhiprāyeṇa hyuktaṃ mahābhārate--- "mahato vedavṛkṣasya mūlabhūto mahānayam /
" ityādi /
caturṇāṃ caiṣāṃ lakṣaṇādikaṃ śrīpauṣkarādiṣu bhagavataiva darśitam /
yacca teṣu caturṣu sādhāraṇyāsādhāraṇyārcopasaṃhāryānupasaṃhāryādikaṃ vaktavyam, tat sarvaṃ śrīpāñcarātrarakṣāsiddhāntavyavasthāyāṃ sarvaparāmarśena sādhitamasmābhiriti tatraiva tadvistaraḥ sāttvatadharmagopturananyairanusandheya iti nātra prabrūmaḥ /
evaṃ sthite kecid bāhlīkaprāyāḥ āgamabāhyāḥ śrīmadvaikhānasaprāmāṇye viśerate /
tatra tāvat kalpasūtraṃ nāpramāṇam, itaravadeva kalpasūtratvāt, tatkartuśca kalpasūtrakāratvaprasiddheḥ, vedāviruddhatvāt, vaidikamantraireva sakaladharmavidhānāt, sūtrāntarāṇāmapi kuṇḍasanniveśalakṣaṇādiṣu kvacit kvacit tadupajīvanāt, varṇāśramadharmāṇāmanukūlaṃ nārāyaṇaparatvapratipādanāderapi sattvamūlatvena prāmāṇyaikahetutvāt, "harimeva smarennityaṃ karmapūrvāpareṣvapi /
dhyāyennārāyaṇaṃ devaṃ snānādiṣu ca karmasu" //
ityādinā śaunakādibhirapi tathaiva vidhānāt, vaṃśaparamparayā ca vaikhānasairadhīyamānatayā viplavasyāpyanavakāśatvāt /
astu kimapi tat, idaṃ taditi kiṃ niyākamamiti cet, itarānupalamaḥ tadupalambhaśca, anyathā sarvatra śrutismṛtyādīnāṃ tathā tathā saṃśayaprasaṅgāt /
astvidameva tat, pramāṇaṃ ca, tathāpi bhārgavādicatuṣkasya kathaṃ prāmāṇyam ? iti cenna, uktottaratvāt, maharṣipraṇītatvavedāviruddhatvādeḥ samatvāt /
pañcarātravirodhostīti cenna, tattve tadabhāvāt, kartavyakriyādibhedasyāpi pratiniyatādhikāriviṣayatvenaivopapatteḥ, kalpasūtraprakriyābhedavat, āgamadivyatantratantrāntararūpapañcarātrāvāntaracatuṣkakriyādivibhāgavacca /
āśvamodhike śrīvaiṣṇavadharmaśāstre dvitayamapi samaprāmāṇyatayopāttam /
dvayorapi parasparaprāmāṇyam "viṣṇostantraṃ dvidhā proktam" ityādiṣu vyañjitam /
parasparākṣepavacanāni tu ikṣubhakṣakṛticikīrṣubhirasahiṣṇubhirupakṣiptāni vā svaśāstrapraśaṃsārthavādarūpāṇi veti na tato virodhaḥ //
nyā. pa. śa. 46 nanu bhārgavādīni na tāvat kalpasūtrāṇi, tathānabhyupagamāt, aprasiddheḥ, ayukteśca, /
na smṛtyantarāṇi, manvādiṣvapāṭhāt tadvat tatprasiddhyabhāvāccāna ca svatantratantrāntarāṇi, sāṃkhyayogādisahapāṭhādarśanāt, vaikhānasānuvartanācca /
tat katamāṃ vidhāmavalambyāmīṣāṃ prāmāṇyamucyate ? /
manvatribhārgavādivat nāradīyādivacca dharmaśāstratayaiva teṣāmapi prāmāṇyam, aṣṭādaśādiparigaṇanasya upalakṣaṇatāyāḥ prāmāṇikairabhyupagamāt /
smṛtyantareṣu devotsavādiprapañcanaṃ nāstīti cet, mā bhūt prapañcanam, svarūpaṃ tāvadanujñātaṃ tatprapañcaparāṇām /
tathāpi jīvānāmantatonyonyavaiṣamyamātrasya ca sārvatrikatvānnikṛṣṭādhikārikāṇi tānīti cenna, teṣvanyeṣu ca brāhmaṇyaikapradhānatvavacatāt, tathopalabdheśca /
kathaṃ teṣāṃ brāhmaṇyamiti cet, śāntaṃ pāpam /
śravasī pidadhīmahi /
tathāpi vaktavyam /
dṛśyante hyete vaṃśaparamparayā vedamadhīyānā vekhānasasūtroktavaidikasakalasaṃskāraśālino varṇāśramadharmakarmaṭhā bhagavadekāntā brāhmaṇāḥ /
nūnamamīṣāṃ brāhmaṇyaikakāraṇena bhāgavatatvenaiva viparītaṃ bambhramīti brāhmaṇagardabhaḥ; anyathā vaikhānasakalpasyāpi niradhikāritvenāprāmāṇyaprasaṅgaḥ /
astu tatprāmāṇyam; santu ca deśāntare kālāntare vā tadadhikāriṇaḥ; amī tu katame ? iti cet, deśāntarādāvapyevaṃ vaktuṃ śakyatvāt; viparītaṃ vā kasmānna syāt ?; evaṃ ca sati sūtrāntarādiṣvapi kaḥ samāśvāsaḥ ? /
vaikhānasānāṃ nikṛṣṭajātitvavacanavivādābhyāṃ sandehaviṣayatvamiticet, āptagranthasthatādṛśavacanābhāvāt; bhāvepyeteṣāṃ nikṛṣṭajātitve pramāṇābhāvāt; āgamaprāmāṇyoktasātvatādisamākhyānirvāhasamatvāt; na hyanekārthaḥ śabdo nāsti, na ca śabdaikyādarthaikyam, śabdabhedenārthabhedo vā; anyathā vilīnaṃ tṛtīyāśrameṇāpi; vivādasya tubhavādṛśajihvāspandamātrādhīnasya sūtragotrādāvapi suśakatvāt /
itaḥ pūrvaṃ tāvannāstīti cenna, asyāpi vivādasyānāditvāyogāt, tataḥ pūrvamabhāvāta; tathā ca bhavato bhaviṣyato vā vivādasya vivādatvāviśeṣāt tataḥ paraṃ teṣāmanāśvāsaprasaṅgāt /
asmākaṃ tāvat teṣu saṃśayo nāstīti cet, asmākaṃ vā kimastyamīṣu ? /
kva tarhi nikṛṣṭajātyantaram ? /
kimasmāsu tannyāsīkṛtam ?; yenāsmābhiḥ pradarśanīyam /
na cāsmābhiranantā deśā draṣṭuṃ śākyāḥ /
sambhavati cocchedaḥ, idānīṃ kṣatriyavaiśyamāhiṣyādivat /
teṣāṃ keṣāṃ cinnāmasāmyamātrādatrānupraveśaḥ saṃbhavatīti cenna, kasyā api śaṅkāyāḥ sarvatra sulabhatvāt; asti ca varṇitvabhikṣutvādīnāṃ sāmyamanyatrāpi /
yaścaivamatiśaṅkayā dūyate, sa tu svamātāpitṛcaritānavadhāraṇena svabrāhmaṇyamapi yathārhamatiśaṅketeti jitaṃ lokāyatena /
uktaṃ ca bhagavatā--- "ajñaścāśraddhadhānaśca saṃśayātmā vinaśyati /
nāyaṃ lokosti na paro na sukha saṃśayātmanaḥ" //
iti /
tat siddhaṃ viśiṣṭādhikārikaṃ vedāviruddhaṃ vaikhānasādismaraṇaṃ pramāṇamiti /
yacca dharmaśāstrādiṣu aṣṭādaśādiparisaṃkhyānam, na tadadhikasaṃkhyāvyavacchedaparam, anyeṣāmapi śiṣṭaparigrahāderaviśiṣṭatvāt, anuktāṃśadarśanādinā upajīvyatvācceti /
evaṃ saparikaro vedaḥ pramāṇamiti siddham //
"chandaḥ pādau śabdaśāstraṃ na vaktraṃ kalpaḥ pāṇī jyautiṣaṃ cakṣuṣī ca /
śikṣā ghrāṇaṃ śrotramuktaṃ niruktaṃ vedasyāṅgānyāhuretāni ṣaṭ ca //
" evaṃ saparikaravedārthatattvanirṇayaviṣayā "athāto dharmajijñāsā" ityārabhya "anāvṛttiḥ śabdādanāvṛttiḥ śabdāt ityevamantā viṃśatilakṣaṇī mīmāṃsā /
"tatra ca saṃhitametaccharīrakaṃ jaiminīyena ṣoḍaśalakṣaṇeneti śāstraikatvasiddhiḥ" iti bhāṣyopātto vṛttigranthaḥ //
nyā. pa. śa. 47 tattvaratnākare tvevamuktam--- "karmadevatābrahmagocarā sā tridhodbhabhau sūtrakārataḥ /
jaiminermuneḥ kāśakṛtsnato bādārayaṇādityataḥ kramāt" //
iti /
anayordevatākāṇḍasya jaiminīyatvakāśakṛtsnīyatvoktī tādadhīnyādivivakṣaya samānārthe gamayitavye /
tatra karmakāṇḍārthamevaṃ saṃjagṛhuḥ--- "dharmadhīrmānabhedāṅgaprayuktikramakartṛbhiḥ /
sātideśaviśeṣohabādhatantraprasaktibhiḥ" //
iti /
"vedārthe nyāyacintye prathamamavasitaṃ karma taddevatā cā- thātaḥ śārīrakāṃśe niravadhikaphalabrahmacintā tvasūtri /
tatrādhyāye parasmin svayamupaniṣadāmanvayosyāvirodho mokṣopāyotha muktirviṣayaviṣayiṇau siddhasādhyau dvikārthau //
" "tatrādyetyantagūḍhāviśadaviśadatacchāyajīvādivācaḥ paścātsmṛtyādikairakṣatirahitahatiḥ kāryatābhrendriyādeḥ /
doṣādoṣau tṛtīyepyavaraparagatau bhaktiraṅgāni cātho- pāsānuṣṭhāprabhāvotkramasaraṇiphalānyantime cintitāni //
" vicārāt pūrvamevātra prāptamadhyayanaṃ vidheḥ /
atonadhītavedasya vicāraḥ śāstrabādhitaḥ //
kramo viṃśatilakṣaṇyā na vaidhaḥ kintu yauktikaḥ /
ato vyutkramacintāyāmanaucityaṃ praśiṣyate //
nyā. pa. śa. 48 evaṃ viṃśatilakṣaṇīśravaṇamananābhyāṃ supratiṣṭhitasamastaśāstrārthasya mokṣasādhanatayā vidheyaṃ nididhyāsanaṃ na vākyārthajñānamātram, tasya rāgaprāptaśravaṇādisiddhatvāt /
ata eva ca tasmin viśeṣe vedanādisāmānyaśabdaparyavasānam /
na ca nididhyāsanādikaṃ niṣiddham, varaṇīyatvameva vihitamiti vācyam; svatantrānyakartṛkavaraṇakarmībhāvasyāpuruṣatantretvenāvidheyatvāt /
atastaddhetunā prītirūpatvena upāsanameva viśiṣyate;tathā sati "bhaktyā tvananyayā" iti smṛtyavirodhaśca /
tadeva ca nididhyāsanaṃ prītirūpaṃ prakaraṇaviśeṣāt samādhiḥ /
ca cāṣṭāṅgaḥ śāstreṣu śiṣyate /
tāvati ca pātañjalaprāmāṇyamapi /
āgamaśīlanaṃ ca āphalānmātrayā anuvartanīyam /
smaranti ca--- "svādhyāyādyogamāsīta yogāt svādhyāyamāviśet /
svādhyāyayogasaṃpattyā paramātmā prakāśate" //
iti /
yat punaḥ śrūyate--- "granthamabhyasya medhāvī jñānavijñānatatparaḥ /
palālamima dhānyārthī tyajed granthamaśeṣataḥ" //
iti, tat kośatyāgābhiprāyam; na ca sādarapaṭusaṃskārapracayasaṃsiddhamedhāsaṃpadaḥ puruṣasya kośena kiñcit sāddhyam /
medhāvīti ca viśeṣvate /
"dhīrdhāraṇāvatī medhā" iti ca naighaṇṭukāḥ /
adhīmahe ca-- "medhāmanīṣe mā viśatāṃ samīcīna bhūtasya bhavyasyāvaruddhyai" iti /
yaddhā muktaprāyātyantaniṣpannayogapuruṣaviṣayametat; na hi tasya śāstreṇa jñātavyaṃ tadānīmasti, sākṣātkṛtasamastatattvārthatvāt /
yattu smaryate--- śāstrajñānaṃ bahukleśaṃ buddheścalanakāraṇam /
upadeśāddhariṃ buddhvā viramet sarvakarmasu" //
iti, idaṃ tu tīvrasaṃvegināmalasāstikānāṃ ca grāhmam; buddhicalanahetūnāmasacchāstrāṇāṃ tyāgārthaṃ vā; tadā viśeṣaṇasāphalyam; dharmavidyāsthāneṣvapi hi bahirdaleṣvatisaṃrambho mumukṣorapodyate--- "na śabdaśāstrābhiratasya mokṣo na caiva ramyāvasathapriyasya /
na bhojanācchādanatatparasya na lokacittagrahaṇe ratasya" //
iti, tat śābdaṃ prameyatattvamadhijigamiṣatāṃ pramāṇeṣu sāram, tadabhāve puṃsaḥ paśubhiḥ samatvaprasaṅgāt iti //
yasyājñā nigamaikaharmyavalabhīvāstavyapārāvatī yadbhrūlāsyavaśaṃvadā vidhiśivasvasthānasusthāsikā /
yaḥ sarvatra yathāpuraṃ vitanute nāmāni viśvākṛti- rnityaṃ naḥ pratibhātu sarvavacasāṃ niṣṭhā sa nārāyaṇaḥ //
iti śrīkavitārkikasiṃhasya sarvatantrasvatantrasya śrīmadveṅkaṭanāthasya vedāntānacāryasya kṛtiṣunyāyapariśuddhau śabdādhyāye dvitīyamāhnikam //
