"guṇakriyādyaśeṣaviśeṣajijñāsāyāmapi padasmāritaviśeṣajijñāsā ākāṅkṣā /
paṭa ityukte kiṃrūpaḥ, kutra kiṃ karotītyādirūpajijñāsā /
tatra, bhavatītyukte, kiṃ karotītyeṣaiva padasmāritaviṣayā, na tu kiṃ rūpa ityādirapi /

prāmāṇye vā na virodhaḥ, sthūlamidamekamitivat sahasambhavāt; caitro 'yamayaṃ tu maitra itivadvā viṣayabhedāt /

tasmādarthāpattirityanumānasya paryāyo 'yam, tadviśeṣavacanaṃ vā pūrvavadādivaditi yuktam /

nanu kva nāma jñātānupalabdhirasākṣātkāriṇīmabhāvapratītiṃ janayati? tadyathā- nipuṇataramanusṛto mayā mandire caitraḥ; na copalabdha iti śrutyā śrotānuminoti, nūnaṃ nāsīdeveti /

yadajñāyamānakaraṇajaṃ jñānaṃ tatsākṣādindriyajam, yathā rūpapratyakṣam /

na hyanumityādibhirupalabhyamānakaraṇikābhiścakṣurādivyavasthāpanam, apitvanupalabhyamānakaraṇikābhī rūpādyupalabdhibhireva /
yadyapi sākṣātkāritāpi tatraiva paryavasyati, tathāpi prathamato 'nupalabhyamānakaraṇatvameva prayojakaṃ cakṣurādikalpane /
na hyupalabhyamāne karaṇāntare sākṣātkāriṇīṣvapi tāsu cakṣurādi anupalabhyamānaṃ kaścidakalpayiṣyat /
ata evāsākṣātkāritve 'pi smṛtermana eva karaṇamupāgaman dhīrāḥ /
saṃskārastvarthaviśeṣaprattyāsattāvupayujyate, indriyāṇāṃ prāpyakāritvavyavasthāpanāt /
[ku.3.405] bhāvāveśācca cetasaḥ /
sarvatra hi bāhyārthānubhave janayitavye bhāvabhūtapramāṇāviṣṭameva ceta upayujyate, nāto 'nyatheti vyāptiḥ, tathaiva śakteravadhāraṇāt /
na hyanupalabdhimātrasahāyaṃ tat abhāve 'pyanubhavamādhātumutsahate, śabdaliṅgāderapekṣādarśanāt /
na ca yatra yadapekṣaṃ yasya janakatvamupalabdham,tadeva tasyaiva tadanapekṣaṃ janakamiti nyāyasaham /
ārdendhanasambandhamantareṇāpi dahanāddhūmasambhāvanāpatteḥ /
tathāca gataṃ kāryakāraṇabhāvaparigrahavyasanena /

akṣāśrayatvāddoṣāṇāmindriyāṇi vikalpanāt //21 //
yaddhi pramāṇaṃ yadbhāvāvagāhi, tat tadabhāvagāhi, yathā liṅgaṃ śabdo vā; ghaṭādyavagāhi cendriyamiti /
anyathā hi śabdādikamapi nābhāvamāvedayet, bhāva eva sāmarthyāvadhāraṇāt /
na caivameva nyāyyam /
devadatto gehe nāstīti śabdāt, mayā tatra jijñāsamānenāpi na dṛṣṭo maitra ityavagatānupalabdhyānumānādapyavagateḥ /
[ku.3.407] grāhayatu vā'śrayamindriyam, tathāpi na tenedaṃ vyavadhīyate, vyāpāratvāt /
anyathā sarvasavikalpakānāṃ pratyakṣatvāya datto jalāñcaliḥ syāt /
nanvevaṃ sati dhūmopalambho 'pyasya vyāpāraḥsyāt /
tathā ca gatamanumānenāpīti cenna- yayā kriyayā vinā yasya yatkāraṇatvaṃ na nirvahati, taṃ prati tasyā eva vyāpāratvāt /
na ca dhūmādyupalabdhimantareṇa cakṣuṣo vanhijñānakāraṇatvaṃ na nirvahati saṃyogavaditi /
[ku.3.408] asti ca bhāvābhāvaviparyayaḥ /
so 'yaṃ yasya doṣamanuvidhatte, tadevātra karaṇamiti nyāyyam /
na cānupalabdhiḥ svabhāvato duṣṭā; nāpyadhikaraṇagrahaṇaṃ pratiyogismaraṇaṃ vā svabhāvato duṣṭam; anupatpattidaśāyāmanutpatteḥ,utpattidaśāyāñca svārthaprakāśanasvabhāvatāyā aparāvṛtteḥ /
asaṃsṛṣṭayoradhikaramapratiyoginoḥ saṃsṛṣṭatayā pratimānaṃ duṣṭam; saṃsṛṣṭayoścāsaṃsṛṣṭatayeti cet- nanvayameva viparyayaḥ /
tathācā'tmāśrayo doṣaḥ /
tasmādduṣṭendriyasya tadviparyayasāmarthye aduṣṭasya tatsamīcīnajñānasāmarthyamapi /
tathāca prayogaḥ- indriyamabhāvapramākaraṇaṃ tadviparyayakaraṇatvāt, yat yadviparyayakaraṇaṃ tat tatpramākaraṇam, yathā rūpapramākaraṇaṃ cakṣuriti /
[ku.3.409] vikalpanātkhalvapi /
aghaṭaṃ bhūtalamiti hi viśiṣṭadhīravaśyamindriyakaraṇikā svīkartavyā; pramāṇāntaraṃ vā saptamamāstheyam /
yathā hi viśeṣyamātropakṣīṇamindriyamakaraṇamatra, tathā viśeṣaṇamātropakṣīṇānupalabdhirapi na karaṇaṃ syāt /
svasvaviṣayamātrapravṛttayoḥ pramāṇayoḥ samāhāraḥ kāraṇamiti cenna- viṣayabhede phalavaijātye ca tadanupapatteḥ /
na hi mṛtsu tantuṣu ca vyāpriyamāṇayoḥ kulālakuvindayoḥ samāhāraḥsyāt /
nāpi ghaṭapaṭādikāriṇāṃ cakravemādīnāṃ samāhāraḥ kvacidupayujyate /
tatra karburakāryābhāvānna tathā; prakṛte tu viśiṣṭapratyayasya parokṣāparokṣarūpasya darśanāttatheti cenna- viruddhajātisamāveśābhāvāt /
bhāve vā karambita (karbura) eva kārye dvayorapi śaktirabhyupagantavyā; darśanabalāt /
na hi niyataviṣayeṇa sāmarthyena karburakāryasiddhiḥ; anyatrāpi tathā prasaṅgāt /
nanūbhayorapyubhayatra sāmarthye kor'tho mithaḥsannidhāneneti cenna- tatsahitasyaiva tasya tatra sāmarthyāditi /
etena surabhi candanamityādayo vyākhyātāḥ /
tathācābhāvaviṣaye 'pīndriyasāmarthyasya durapahnavatvādalamasadgraheṇeti /
[ku.3.410] syādetat- nāgṛhīte viśeṣaṇe viśaṣṭabuddhirudeti, tatkāryatvāt /
na ca viśiṣṭasāmarthye kevalaviśeṣaṇe 'pi sāmarthyam, kevalasaurabhe 'pi cakṣuṣo vṛttiprasaṅgāt /
ato 'bhāvaviśeṣaṇagrahaṇāya mānāntarasambhavaḥ /
api ca kathamanālocitor'tha indriyeṇa vikalpyeta? na ca mānāntarasyāpyeṣā rītiḥ,anumānādibhiranālocitasyāpyarthasya vikalpanāt /

tato 'nālocito 'bhāvaḥ kathamanupalabdhyāpi vikalpyeta /
na ca tayā tadālocanameva janyate,pratiyogyanavacchinnasya tasya nirūpayitumaśakyatvāt /
śakyatve vā kimaparāddhamindriyeṇa /
tathā sambandhāntaragarbhatvaniyamena viśeṣaṇatvasya, mānāntare 'pi kaḥ pratīkāraḥ; tadabhāvasya tadānīmapisamānatvāt /
parasya tādātmyamastīti cet- nanu yadyasāvasti, astyeva; na cet, naiva /
na hyabhyupagamenārthāḥ kriyante, anabhyupagamena vā nivartante iti /
[ku.3.415] avaśyābhyupagantavyatve kāraṇatvaṃ siddhayet, na tu mānāntaratvam /
anyathā bhāvopalambhe 'pyabhāvānupalabdhireva pramāṇaṃ syāt; nendriyam /
