deśata ātmana ānantyam / na hy asarvagatāt sarvagatam utpadyamanaṃ loke kiñcid dṛśyate
/ ato niratiśayam ātmana ānantyaṃ deśataḥ, tathākāryatvāt kālataḥ, tadbhinnavastvantarābhāvāc
ca vastutaḥ / ata eva niratiśayasatyavam /
tasmād iti mūlavākyasūtritaṃ brahma parāmṛśyate / etasmād iti mantravākyeṇānantaraṃ
yathālakṣitam / yad brahmādau brāhmaṇavākyena sūtritaṃ, yac ca satyaṃ jñānam anantaṃ brahmety anantaram
(TaittU 2,1.1) eva lakṣitaṃ, tasmād etasmād brahmaṇa ātmana ātmaśabdavācyāt / ātmā hi tatsarvasya
tatsatyaṃ sa ātmā
(ChU 6,8.16) iti śrutyantarāt / ato brahmātmā / tasmād etasmād brahmaṇa ātmasvarūpād ākāśaḥ sambhūtaḥ
samutpannaḥ / ākāśo nāma śabdaguṇo 'vakāśakaro mūrtadravyāṇām / tasmād ākāśāt svena
sparśaguṇena pūrveṇa ca ākāśaguṇena śabdena dviguṇo vāyuḥ / sambhūta ity anuvartate
/ vāyoś ca svena rūpaguṇena pūrvābhyāṃ ca triguṇo 'gniḥ sambhūtaḥ / agneś ca svena
rasaguṇena pūrvaiś ca tribhiś caturguṇā āpaḥ sambhūtāḥ / adbhyaḥ svena gandhaguṇena
pūrvaiś caturbhiḥ pañcaguṇā pṛthivī sambhūtā / pṛthivyā oṣadhayaḥ / oṣadhībhyo 'nnam
/ annādretorūpeṇa pariṇatāt puruṣaḥ śiraḥpāṇyādyākṛtimān / sa vā eṣa puruṣo 'nnarasamayo
'nnarasavikāraḥ, puruṣākṛtibhāvitaṃ hi sarvebhyo 'ṅgebhyas tejaḥ sambhūtaṃ reto bījaṃ,
tasmād yo jāyate so 'pi tathā puruṣākṛtir eva syāt / sarvajātiṣu jāyamānānāṃ janakākṛtiniyam
adarśanāt / sarveṣām apy annarasavikāratve brahmavaṃśatve cāviśiṣṭe kasmāt puruṣa
eva gṛhyate prādhānyāt / kiṃ punaḥ prādhānyam? karmajñānādhikāraḥ / puruṣa eva hi
śaktatvād arthitvād aparyudastatvāc cārthī vidvānsam arthaḥ karmajñānayor adhikriyate
— puruṣe tv evāvistarām ātmā sa hi prajñānena sampannatamo vijñātaṃ vadati vijñātaṃ
paśyati vedaśvastanaṃ veda lokālokau matryenāmṛtam īkṣati ity evaṃ sampannaḥ / athetareṣāṃ
paśūnāmaśanāpipāse evābhivijñānaṃ
(AitĀ 2,3.2-5) ity ādiśrutyantaradarśanāt / sa hi puruṣa iha vidyayā āntaratamaṃ brahma saṅkrāmayitum
iṣṭas tasya ca bāhyākāraviśeṣeṣv anātmasvātmabhāvitā buddhir anālambya viśeṣaṃ kaścit
sahasā āntaratam apratyagātmaviṣayā nirālambanā ca kartum aśakyeti dṛṣṭaśarīrātmasāmānyakalpanayā
śākhācandranidarśanavadantaḥ praveśayann āha — tasyedam eva śiraḥ / tasyāsya puruṣasyānnarasamayasyedam
eva śiraḥ prasiddham / prāṇamayādiṣv aśirasāṃ śirastvadarśanād ihāpi tatprasaṅgo mā
bhūd itīdam eva śira ity ucyate / evaṃ pakṣādiṣu yojanā / ayaṃ dakṣiṇo bāhuḥ pūrvābhimukhasya
dakṣiṇaḥ pakṣaḥ / ayaṃ savyo bāhuruttaraḥ pakṣaḥ / ayaṃ madhyamo dehabhāga ātmā aṅgānām
madhyaṃ hy eṣām aṅgānām ātmā

ānandamayāntebhya ātmabhyo 'bhyantaratamaṃ brahma vidyayā pratyagātmavena didarśayiṣu
śāstram avidyākṛtapañcakośāpanayanenānekatuṣakodravavituṣīkaraṇeneva tad antargatataṇḍulān
prastauti, tasmād vā etasmād anarasamayād ity ādi / tasmād etasmād yathoktād annarasamayāt
piṇḍād anyo vyatirikto 'ntaro 'bhyantara ātmā piṇḍavad eva mithyāparikalpitam ātmatvena
prāṇamayaḥ, prāṇo vāyus tanmayas tatprāyaḥ / tena prāṇamayena eṣa annarasamaya ātmā
pūrṇo vāyuneva dṛtiḥ / sa vā eṣa prāṇamaya ātmā puruṣavidha eva puruṣākāra eva śiraḥpakṣādibhiḥ
/ kiṃ svata eva, nety āha / prasiddhaṃ tāvad annarasamayasyātmanaḥ puruṣavidhatvam
/ tasyānnarasamayasya puruṣavidhatāṃ puruṣākāratām / anvayaṃ prāṇamayaḥ puruṣavidho
mūṣāniṣiktapratimāvanna svata eva / evaṃ pūrvasya pūrvasya puruṣavidhatā, tām anūttarottaraḥ
puruṣavidho bhavati, pūrvaḥ pūrvaś cottarottareṇa pūrṇaḥ / kathaṃ punaḥ puruṣavidhatāsyety
ucyate — tasya prāṇamayasya prāṇa eva śiraḥ prāṇamayasya vāyuvikārasya prāṇo mukhanāsikāniḥsaraṇo
vṛttiviśeṣaḥ śira eva parikalpyate, vacanāt / sarvatra vacanād eva pakṣādikalpanā
/ vyāno vyānavṛttir dakṣiṇaḥ pakṣaḥ / apāna uttaraḥ pakṣaḥ / ākāśa ātmā, yā ākāśastho
vṛttiviśeṣaḥ samānākhyaḥ sa ātmeva ātmā prāṇavṛttyadhikārād madhyasthatvāditarāḥ paryantā
vṛttīr apekṣya ātmā / madhyaṃ hy eṣām aṅgānām ātmā

/ adhyātmādhikārād devā indriyāṇi prāṇam anu prāṇanti mukhyaprāṇam anu ceṣṭanta iti

prāṇamayenāpi sādhāraṇenaiva sarvapiṇḍavyāpinā ātmavantī manuṣyādayaḥ / evaṃ manomayādibhiḥ
pūrvapūrvavyāpibhir uttarottaraiḥ sūkṣmair ānandamayāntair ākāśādibhūtārabdhair avidyākṛtair
ātmavantaḥ sarve prāṇinaḥ / tathā svābhāvikenāpyākāśādikāraṇena nityenāvikṛtena sarvagatena
satyajñānānantalakṣaṇena paścakośātigena sarvātmanā ātmavantaḥ / sa hi paramārthata
ātmā sarveṣām ity etad apy arthād uktataṃ bhavati / prāṇaṃ devā anuprāṇantīty uktaṃ
tat kasmād ity āha — prāṇo hi yasmāt bhūtānāṃ prāṇinām āyur jīvanam / yāvad dhy asmiñ śarīre prāṇo vasati tāvad āyuḥ

anyo 'ntara ātmā manomayaḥ / mana iti saṅkalpādyātmakam antaḥkaraṇaṃ tanmayo manomayo,
so 'yaṃ prāṇabhayasyābhyantara ātmā / tasya yajur eva śiraḥ / yajur iti aniyatākṣarapādāvasāno
mantraviśeṣaḥ tajjātīyavacano yajuḥśabdas tasya śirastvaṃ prādhānyāt / prādhānyaṃ
ca yāgādau sannipatyopakārāt / yajuṣā hi havir dīyate svāhākārādinā / vācanikī vā
śirādikalpanā sarvatra / manaso hi sthānaprayatnanādasvaravarṇapadavākyaviṣayā tatsaṅkalpātmikā
tadbhāvitā vṛttiḥ śrotrādikaraṇadvārā yajuḥsaṅketaviśiṣṭā yajur ity ucyate / evam
ṛg evaṃ sāma ca / evañś ca manovṛttitve mantrāṇāṃ vṛttir evāvartyata iti mānaso japa
upapadyate / anyathā aviṣayatvān mantro nāvartayituṃ śakyo ghaṭādivad iti mānaso japo
nopapadyate / mantrāvṛttiś ca codyate bahuśaḥ karmasu / akṣaraviṣayasmṛtyāvṛttyā mantrāvṛttiḥ
syād iti cen na / mukhyārthāsambhavāt / triḥ prathamāmanvāha triruttamām

vijñānaṃ yajñaṃ tanute / vijñānavān hi yajñaṃ tanoti śraddhādipūrvakam / ato vijñānasya

vijñānamaya ātmā brahmeti / kiñca vijñānaṃ brahma sarve devā indrādayo jyeṣṭhaṃ prathamajatvāt

— tasmāc cen na pramādyatīti / annamayādiṣv ātmabhāvaṃ hitvā kevale vijñānamaye brahmaṇy
ātmatvaṃ bhāvayan nāste ced ity arthaḥ / tataḥ kiṃ syād ity ucyate — śarīre pāpmano
hitvā, śarīrābhimānanimittā hi sarve pāpmānas teṣāṃ ca vijñānamaye brahmaṇy ātmābhimānān
nimittāpāye hānam upapadyate, chatrāpāya iva cchāyāyāḥ / tasmāc charīrābhimānanimittān
sarvān pāpmanaḥ śarīraprabhavāñ śarīra eva hitvā vijñānamayabrahmasvarūpāpannaḥ tatsthānsarvān
kāmān vijñānamayenaivātmanā samaśnute samyagbhuṅka ity arthaḥ / tasya pūrvasya manomayasyātmaiṣa
eva śarīre manomaye bhavaḥ śārīraḥ / kaḥ / ya eṣa vijñānamayaḥ / tasmād vaitasmād
ity uktārtham / ānandamaya iti kāryātmapratītir adhikārān mayaṭśabdāc ca / annādimayā
hi kāryātmāno bhautikā ihādhikṛtāḥ / tadadhikārapatitaś cāyam ānandamayaḥ / mayaṭ
cātra vikārārthe dṛṣṭo yathānnamaya ity atra / tasmāt kāryātmā ānandamayaḥ pratyetavyaḥ
/ saṅkramaṇāc ca ānandamayam ātmānam upasaṅkrāmati

astitvavedanāt so 'nyeṣāṃ brahmavadvijñeyo bhavatīty arthaḥ / athavā yo nāsti brahmeti
manyate sa sarvasyaiva sanmārgasya varṇāśramādivyavasthālakṣaṇasyāśraddadhānatayā
nāstitvaṃ pratipadyate brahmapratipattyarthatvāt tasya / ato nāstikaḥ so 'sannasādhur
ucyate loke / tadviparītaḥ sanyo 'sti brahmeti ced veda, sa tadbrahmapratipattihetuṃ

brahmaṇaḥ / yasmād evam atas tasmāt athānantaraṃ śrotuḥ śiṣyasyānupraśnā ācāryoktim
anvete praśnā anupraśnāḥ — sāmānyaṃ hi brahma ākāśādikāraṇatvād viduṣo 'viduṣaś ca
/ ata aviduṣo 'pi brahmaprāptir āśaṅkyate / utāpy avidvān amuṃ lokaṃ paramātmānam
itaḥ pretya kaścana, canaśabdo 'py arthe, avidvān api gacchati prāpnoti? kiṃvā na
gacchatīti dvitīyo 'pi praśno draṣṭavyo 'nupraśnā iti bahuvacanāt / vidvāṃsaṃ pratyanyau
praśnau — yady avidvān sāmānyaṃ kāraṇam api brahma na gacchati, tato viduṣo 'pi brahmāgamanam
āśaṅkyate / atas taṃ prati praśna āho vidvān iti / ukāraṃ ca vakṣyamāṇam adhastād
apakṛṣya takāraṃ ca pūrvasmād utaśabdād vyāsajya āho ity etasmāt pūrvam utaśabdaṃ
saṃyojya pṛcchaty utāho vidvān iti / vidvān brahmavid api kaścid itaḥ pretyāmuṃ lokaṃ
samaśnute prāpnoti / samaśnute u ity evaṃ sthite 'yādeśe yalope ca kṛte 'kārasya plutiḥ

utānyeneti? kiṃ tāvad yuktam? vatvāpratyayaśravaṇādyaḥ sraṣṭā sa evānuprāviśad iti
/ nanu na yuktaṃ mṛdvac cet kāraṇaṃ brahma, tadātmakatvāt kāryasya / kāraṇam eva hi
kāryātmanā pariṇamate / ato 'praviṣṭasyaiva kāryotpatter ūdhrvaṃ pṛthak kāraṇasya
puna praveśo 'nupapannaḥ / na hi ghaṭapariṇāmavyatirekeṇa mṛdo ghaṭe praveśo 'sti
/ yathā ghaṭe cūrṇātmana mṛdo 'nupraveśaḥ, evam anenātmanā nāmarūpakārye 'nupraveśa
ātmana iti cet śrutyantarāc ca anena jīvenātmanānupraviśya

yuktaḥ / kāryāntaram eva syād iti cet / tad evānuprāviśad iti / jīvātmarūpaṃ kāryaṃ
nāmarūpapariṇataṃ kāryāntaram evāpadyata iti cen na / virodhāt / na hi ghaṭo ghaṭāntaram
āpadyate, vyatirekaśrutivirodhāc ca / jīvasya nāmarūpakāryavyatirekānuvādinyaḥ śrutayo
virudhyeran / tadāpattau mokṣāsambhavāc ca / na hi yato mucyamānas tad evāpadyate

āpekṣikaṃ satyaṃ, mṛgatṛṣṇikādyanṛtāpekṣayodakādi satyam ucyate / anṛtaṃ ca tadviparītam
/ kiṃ punar etat sarvam abhavat / satyaṃ paramārthasatyaṃ, kiṃ punas tat? brahma /
satyaṃ jñānam anantaṃ brahmeti prakṛtatvāt / yasmāt sattyadādikaṃ mūrtāmūrtadharmajātaṃ
yatkiñcedaṃ sarvam aviśiṣṭaṃ vikārajātam ekam eva sacchabdavācyaṃ brahmābhavattadvyatirekeṇābhāvān
nāmarūpavikārasya, tasmāt tadbrahma satyam ity ācakṣate brahmavidaḥ / asti nāstīty
anupraśnaḥ prakṛtaḥ, tasya prativacanaviṣaya etad uktaṃ — ātmākāmayata bahu syām iti
/ sa yathākāmaṃ cākāśādikāryaṃ sattyadādilakṣaṇaṃ sṛṣṭvā tad anupraviśya paśyañ śṛṇvan
manvāno vijānan bahv abhavat / tasmāt tad evedam ākāśādikāraṇaṃ kāryasthaṃ parame
vyoman hṛdayaguhāyāṃ nihitaṃ tatpratyayāvabhāsaviśeṣeṇopalabhyamānam astīty evaṃ vijānīyādityuktaṃ
bhavati / tad etasminn arthe brāhmaṇokta eṣa śloko mantro bhavati / yathā pūrveṣv
annamayādyātmaprakāśakāḥ pañcasv api, evaṃ sarvāntaram ātmāstitvaprakāśako 'pi mantraḥ
kāryadvāreṇa bhavati //

asad vā idam agra āsīt / asad iti vyākṛtanāmarūpaviśeṣaviparītarūpam avikṛtaṃ brahmocyate
/ na punar atyantam evāsat / na hy asataḥ sajjanmāsti / idam iti nāmarūpaviśeṣavadvyākṛtaṃ
jagad agre pūrvaṃ prāgutpatter brahmaivāsacchabdavācyam āsīt / tato 'sato vai satpravibhaktanāmarūpaviśeṣamajāyatotpannam
/ kiṃ tataḥ pravibhaktaṃ kāryam iti pitur iva putraḥ? nety āha / tadasacchabdavācyaṃ
svayam evātmānam evākuruta kṛtavat / yasmād evaṃ tasmāt tad brahmaiva sukṛtaṃ svayaṃ
kartr ucyate / svayaṃ kartṛ brahmeti prasiddhaṃ loke sarvakāraṇatvāt / yasmād vā svayam
akarot sarvaṃ sarvātmanā, tasmāt puṇyarūpeṇāpi tad eva brahma kāraṇaṃ sukṛtam ucyate
/ sarvathāpi tu phalasambandhādikāraṇaṃ sukṛtaśabdavācyaṃ prasiddhaṃ loke / yadi puṇyaṃ
yadi vānyat sā prasiddhiḥ nitye cetanavatkāraṇe saty upapadyate, tasmād asti tadbrahma,
sukṛtaprasiddheḥ / itaś cāsti / kutaḥ rasatvāt / kuto rasatvaprasiddhir brahmaṇo ity
ata āha — yad vai tatsukṛtaṃ raso vai saḥ / raso nāma tṛptihetur ānandakaro madhurāmlādiḥ
prasiddho loke / rasam eva hy ayaṃ labdhvā prāpya ānandī sukhī bhavati / nāsata ānandahetutvaṃ
dṛṣṭaṃ loke / bāhyānandasādhanarahitā apy anīhā nireṣaṇā brāhmaṇā bāhyarasalābhād
iva sānandā dṛśyante vidvāṃsaḥ, nūnaṃ brahmaiva rasas teṣām / tasmād asti tat teṣām
ānandakāraṇaṃ rasavadbrahma / itaścāti / kutaḥ? prāṇanādikriyādarśanāt / ayam api
hi piṇḍo jīvataḥ prāṇena prāṇityapānenāpān iti / evaṃ vāyavīyā aindriyakāś ca ceṣṭāḥ
saṃhataiḥ kāryakāraṇair nirvartyamanā dṛśyante / tac caikārthavṛttitvena saṃhananaṃ
nāntareṇa cetanam asaṃhataṃ sambhavati / anyatrādarśanāt / tad āha yad yadi eṣa ākāśe
parame vyomni guhāyāṃ nihita ānando na syān na bhavet ko hy eva loke 'nyād apānaceṣṭāṃ
kuryād ity arthaḥ / kaḥ prāṇyāt prāṇanaṃ vā kuryāt / tasmād asti tad brahma / yad
arthāḥ kāraṇapraṇanādiceṣṭāḥ tat kṛta eva cānando lokasya / kutaḥ / eṣa hy eva para
ātmā ānandayātyānandayati sukhayati lokaṃ dharmānurūpam / sa evātmānandarūpo 'vidyayā
paricchinno vibhāvyate prāṇibhir ity arthaḥ / bhayābhayahetutvād vidvadaviduṣor asti
tad brahma / sadvastvāśrayaṇena hy abhayaṃ bhavati / nāsadvastvāśrayaṇena bhayanivṛttir
upapadyate / katham abhayahetutvabhity ucyate — yadā hy eva yasmād eṣa sādhaka etasmin
brahmaṇi, kiṃviśiṣṭe 'dṛśye, dṛśyaṃ nāma draṣṭavyaṃ vikāro darśanārthatvād vikārasya
/ na dṛśyam adṛśyavikāra ity arthaḥ / etasminn adṛśye 'vikāre 'viṣayabhūte 'nātmye
'śarīre yasmād adṛśyaṃ tasmād anātmyaṃ yasmād anātmyaṃ tasmād aniruktam / viśeṣo hi
nirucyate / viśeṣaś ca vikāraḥ / avikāraṃ ca brahma / sarvavikārahetutvāt / tasmād
aniruktam / yata evaṃ tasmād anilayanaṃ nilayanaṃ nīḍa āśrayo na nilayanam anilayanam
anādhāraṃ tasminn etasminn adṛśye 'nātmye 'nirukte 'nilayane

/ anyasya hy anyato bhayaṃ bhavati, na ātmana evātmano bhayaṃ yuktam / tasmād ātmaivātmano
'bhayakāraṇam / sarvato hi nirbhayā brāhmaṇā dṛśyante satsu bhayahetuṣu / taccāyuktam
asati bhayatrāṇe brahmaṇi / tasmāt teṣām abhayadarśanād asti tadabhayakāraṇaṃ brahmeti
/ kadāsāv abhayaṃ gato bhavati sādhakaḥ? yadā nānyat paśyaty ātmani cāntaraṃ bhedaṃ
na kurute, tadābhayaṃ gato bhavatīty abhiprāyaḥ / yadā punar avidyāvasthāyāṃ hi yasmād
eṣo 'vidyāvānavidyayā pratyupasthāpita vastu taimirikadvitīyacandravat paśyaty ātmani
caitasmin brahmaṇi, udapi, aramalpamaṇy antaraṃ chidraṃ bhedadarśanaṃ kurute / bhedadarśanam
eva hy antaraṇakaraṇam alpam api bhedaṃ paśyatīty arthaḥ / atha tasmād bhedadarśanād
dhetor asya bhedadarśina ātmano bhayaṃ bhavati / tasmād ātmevātmano bhayakāraṇam aviduṣaḥ
/ tad etad āha — tadbrahma tv eva bhayaṃ bhedadarśino 'viduṣa īśvaro 'nyo matto 'ham
anyaḥ saṃsārīty evaṃviduṣo bhedadṛṣṭam īśvarākhyaṃ tad eva brahmālpam apy antaraṃ
kurvato bhayaṃ bhavaty ekatvenāmanvānasya / tasmād vidvān apy avidvān evāsau yo 'yam
ekam abhinnam ātmatattvaṃ na paśyati / ucchedahetudarśanād dhy ucchedyābhimatasya
bhayaṃ bhavati / anucchedyo hy ucchedahetuḥ / tatrāsty ucchedahetāv anucchedye taddarśanakārye
bhayaṃ yuktam / sarvaṃ ca jagadbhayavat dṛśyate / tasmāj jagato bhavadarśanād gamyate
nūnaṃ tad asti bhayakāraṇam ucchedahetur anucchedyātmaka yato jagadbibhetīti / tad

niyatāḥ pravartante / tadyuktaṃ praśāstari sati, yasmāt niyamena teṣāṃ pravartana,
tasmād asti bhayakāraṇaṃ teṣāṃ praśāstṛ brahma / yatas te bhṛtyā iva rājño 'smād brahmaṇo
bhayena pravartante tac ca bhayakāraṇam ānandaṃ brahma / tasyāsya brahmaṇa ānandasyaiṣā
mīmāṃsā vicāraṇā bhavati / kim ānandasya mīmāṃsyam ity ucyate / kim ānando viṣayaviṣayisambandhajanito
laukikānandavadāhosvitsvābhāvika, ity evam eṣā ānandasya mīmāṃsā / tatra laukika ānando
bāhyādhyātmikasādhasampattinimitta utkṛṣṭaḥ / sa ya eṣa nirdiśyate brahmānandānugamārtham
/ anena hi prasiddhenānandena vyāvṛttaviṣayabudbhigamya ānando 'nugantuṃ śakyate /
laukiko 'py ānando brahmānandasyaiva mātrā avidyayā tiraskriyamāṇe vijñāna utkṛṣyamāṇāyāṃ
cāvidyāyāṃ brahmādibhiḥ karmavaśādyathāvijñānaṃ viṣayādisādhanasambandhavaśāc ca vibhāvyamānaś
ca loke 'navasthito laukikaḥ sampadyate / sa evāvidyākāmakarmāpakarṣeṇa manuṣyagandharvāyuttarottarabhūmiṣvakāmahatavidvacchrotriyapratyakṣo
vibhāvyate śataguṇottarotarotkarṣeṇa yāvad dhiraṇyagarbhasya brahmaṇa ānanda iti /
niraste tv avidyākṛte viṣayaviṣayivibhāge vidyayā svābhāvikaḥ paripūrṇa eka ānando
'dvaito bhavatīy etam arthaṃ vibhāvayiṣyann āha yuvā prathamavayāḥ / sādhuyuveti sādhuś
cāsau yuvā ceti yūno viśeṣaṇam / yuvāpy asādhur bhavati sādhur apy ayuvā ato viśeṣaṇaṃ
yuvā syāt sādhuyuveti / adhyāyako 'dhītavedaḥ / āśiṣṭha aśāstṛtamaḥ / dṛḍhiṣṭho dṛḍhatamaḥ
/ baliṣṭho balavattamaḥ / evam ādhyātmikasādhanasampannaḥ / tasyeyaṃ pṛthivyurvīṃ
sarvā vittasya vittenopabhogasādhanena dṛṣṭārthenādṛṣṭārthena ca karmasādhanena sampannā
pūrṇā rājā pṛthivīpatir ity arthaḥ / tasya ca ya ānandaḥ sa eko mānuṣo manuṣyāṇāṃ
prakṛṣṭa eka ānandaḥ / te ye śataṃ mānuṣā ānandāḥ sa eko manuṣyagandharvāṇām ānandaḥ
/ mānuṣānandācchataguṇenotkṛṣṭo manuṣyagandharvāṇām ānando bhavati / manuṣyāḥ santaḥ
karmavidyāviśeṣād gandharvatvaṃ prāptā manuṣyagandharvāḥ / te hy antardhānādiśaktisampannāḥ
sūkṣmakāryakaraṇāḥ / tasmāt pratighātālpatvaṃ teṣāṃ dvandvapratighātaśaktiḥ sādhanasampattiś
ca / tato 'pratihanyamānasya pratikāravato manuṣyagandharvasya syāc cittaprasādaḥ
/ tatprasādaviśeṣāt sukhaviśeṣābhivyaktiḥ / evaṃ pūrvasyāḥ pūrvasyā bhūmer uttarasyām
uttarasyāṃ bhūmau prasādaviśeṣataḥ śataguṇenānandotkarṣa upapadyate / prathamaṃ tv
akāmahatāgrahaṇaṃ manuṣyaviṣayabhogakāmānabhihatasya śrotriyasya manuṣyānandāc chataguṇenānandotkarṣo
manuṣyagandharveṇa tulyo vaktavya ity evam artham / sādhuyuvādhyāyaka iti śrotriyatvāvṛjinave
gṛhyete / te hy aviśiṣṭe sarvatra / akāmahatatvaṃ tu viṣayotkarṣāpakarṣataḥ sukhotkarṣāpakarṣāya
viśeṣyate / ato 'kāmahatagrahaṇam, tadviśeṣataḥ śataguṇasukhotkarṣopalabdher akāmahatatvasya
paramānandaprāptisādhanavividhānārtham / vyākhyātamanyat / devagandhavā jātita eva
/ ciralokalokānām iti pitṝṇāṃ viśeṣaṇam / cirakālasthāyī loko yeṣāṃ pitṝṇāṃ te ciralokalokā
iti / ājāna iti devalokas tasminn ājāne jātā ājānajā devāḥ, smārtakarmaviśeṣato devasthāneṣu
jātāḥ / karma devā ye vaidikena karmaṇāgnihotrādinā kevalena devānapiyanti / devā
iti trayaṃs triśaddhavirbhujaḥ / indras teṣāṃ svāmī / tasyācāryo bṛhaspatiḥ / prajāpatir
virāṭ trailokyaśarīro brahmā samaṣṭivyaṣṭirūpaḥ saṃsāramaṇḍalavyāpī / yatraita anandabhedā
ekatāṃ gacchanti dharmaś ca tannimitto jñānaṃ ca tadviṣayam akāmahatatvaṃ ca niratiśayaṃ
yatra, sa eṣa hiraṇyagarbho brahmā tasyaiṣa ānandaḥ śrotriyeṇāvṛjinenākāmahatena ca
sarvataḥ pratyakṣam upalabhyate / tasmād etāni trīṇi sādhanānīty avagamyate / tatra
śrotriyatvāvṛjinatve niyate, akāmahatatvaṃ tūtkṛṣyata iti prakṛṣṭasādhanatā avagamyate
/ tasyākāmahatatvaprakarṣataś copalabhyamānaḥ śrotriyapratyakṣo brahmaṇa ānando yasya
paramānandasya mātraikadeśaḥ / etasyaivānandasyānyāni bhūtāni mātrām upajīvanti
(BĀU 4,3.32) iti śrutyantarāt / sa eṣa anando yasya mātrā samudrāmbhasa iva vipruṣaḥ pravibhaktā
yatraikatāṃ gatā sa eṣa paramānandaḥ svābhāvika advaitatvāt / ānandānandinoś cāvibhāgo

ity aviśeṣato 'dhyātmaṃ na yukto nirdeśo, yaś cāyaṃ dakṣiṇe 'kṣan

/ nānarthakam / utkarṣāpakarṣāpohārthatvāt / dvaitasya hi mūrtāmūrtalakṣaṇasya yaḥ
para utkarṣaḥ savitrabhyantargataḥ sa cet puruṣagataviśeṣopamardena paramānandam apekṣya
samo bhavati, na kaścid utkarṣo 'pakarṣo vā tāṃ gatiṃ gatasyety abhayaṃ pratiṣṭhāṃ vindata

/ sa kim? asmāl lokāt pretya, dṛṣṭādṛṣṭeṣṭaviṣayasamudāyo hy ayaṃ lokas tasmād asmāl
lokāt pretya pratyāvṛttya nirapekṣo bhūtvaitaṃ yathāvyākhyātam annamayam ātmānam upasaṅkrāmati,
viṣayajātam annamayāt piṇḍātmano vyatiriktaṃ na paśyati, sarvaṃ sthūlabhūtam annamayam
ātmānaṃ paśyatīty arthaḥ / tato 'bhyantaram etaṃ prāṇamayaṃ sarvānnamayātmastham avibhaktam
/ athaitaṃ manomayaṃ vijñānam ayam ānandamayam ātmānam upasaṅkramati / atha adṛśye 'nātmye 'nirukte 'nilayane 'bhayaṃ pratiṣṭhāṃ vindate

iti vyarthaiva cintā / na / tannirdhāraṇārthatvāt / satyaṃ prāpto doṣo na śakyaḥ parihartum
