mātrābhūtānyanukramāt // vidhatte dehasiddhyarthaṃ yatsākṣādyatpadāntarāt yathā yunakti yaddhetos tādṛktadadhunocyate // kartṛśaktiraṇornityā vibhvī ceśvaraśaktivat tamaścchannatayārtheṣu nābhāti niranugrahā // tadanugrāhakaṃ tattvaṃ kalākhyaṃ taijasaṃ haraḥ māyāṃ vikṣobhya kurute pravṛttyaṅgaṃ paraṃ hi tat // tena pradīpakalpena tadāsvacchaciteraṇoḥ prakāśayatyekadeśaṃ vidārya timiraṃ ghanam // kala ityeṣa yo dhātuḥ saṃkhyāne preraṇe ca saḥ protsāraṇaṃ preraṇaṃ sā kurvatī tamasaḥ kalā // ityetadubhayaṃ vipra saṃbhūyānanyavatsthitam bhogakriyāvidhau jantor nijaguḥ kartṛkārakam // evaṃ vyaktakriyāśaktir didṛkṣurgocaraṃ dṛśaḥ bhajatyanugrahāpekṣaṃ svayaṃ draṣṭumaśaknuvat // tadarthaṃ kṣobhayitveśaḥ kalāmeva janikṣamām tattvaṃ vidyākhyamasṛjat karaṇaṃ paramātmanaḥ // tena tadvṛttayaḥ prakāśādyāḥ prasiddhā eva bhūyasā // trayo guṇāstathāpyekaṃ tattvaṃ tadaviyogataḥ ekaikaśrutireteṣāṃ vṛttyādhikyanibandhanā // na tadasti jagatyasmin vastu kiñcidacetanam yanna vyāptaṃ guṇairyasminn eko vāmiśrako guṇaḥ // buddhitattvaṃ tato nānā bhāvapratyayalakṣaṇam paraṃ tadātmano bhogyaṃ vakṣyamāṇārthasaṃskṛtam // bhāvā buddhiguṇā dharma jñānavairāgyabhūtayaḥ sāttvikā vyatyayenaite rāgamutsṛjya tāmasāḥ // pratyayāstadupādānās te 'ṣṭau nava caturguṇāḥ sapta pañca ca vikhyātāḥ siddhyādyā vargaśo mune // bhāvāḥ sapratyayāsteṣāṃ leśāllakṣaṇamucyate sāṃsiddhikā vainayikāḥ prākṛtāśca bhavantyaṇoḥ // viśiṣṭadharmasaṃskāra samuddīpitacetasām guṇaḥ sāṃsiddhiko bhāti dehābhāve 'pi pūrvavat // lokadhīguruśāstrebhyo bhāti vainayiko guṇaḥ samarjito vainayiko manovāktanuceṣṭayā // prākṛto dehasaṃyoge vyaktaḥ svapnādibodhavat svargo muktiḥ prakṛtitvā- vighātau yonikrāntirnirayāvāptibandhau rūpeṣvarthā vainayaprākṛteṣu sampadyante savighātāḥ krameṇa // vaśyākrāntistatparijñānayogo bhogānicchā vighnasaṃghavyapāyaḥ bhogāsaktirnyakkṛtirdehalabdhir vighnaścārthāsteṣu sāṃsiddhikeṣu // atha siddhyādivargāṇāṃ leśātsāmānyalakṣaṇam kathyate viplavo mā bhūt samāsokteḥ prabhedaśaḥ // puṃsprakṛtyādiviṣayā buddhiryā siddhiratra sā tuṣṭirnurakṛtārthasya kṛtārtho 'smīti yā matiḥ // aśaktiḥ kārakāpāye sadarthāprabhaviṣṇutā kiñcitsāmānyato 'nyatra matiranyā viparyayaḥ // prakāśakatayā siddhir vyaktādeḥ sattvabhāvajā prakāśārthapravṛttatvād rajoṃśaprabhavapi ca // tuṣṭirmithyāsvarūpatvāt tamoguṇanibandhanā sukharūpatayā brahman sāttvikyapyavasīyate // aśaktirapravṛttatvāt tāmasī duḥkhabhāvataḥ rājasyapi guṇo dṛṣṭaḥ kārye kāraṇasaṃśrayaḥ // viparyayastamoyonir mithyārūpatayā sa ca sāmānyamātrakābhāsāt sattvātmeti viniścitaḥ // iti buddhiprakāśo 'yaṃ bhāvapratyayalakṣaṇaḥ bodha ityucyate bodha vyaktibhūmitayā paśoḥ // buddhirbodhanimittaṃ ced vidyā tadvyatiricyate rāgo 'pi satyavairāgye kalāyoniḥ karoti kim // vyañjakāntarasadbhāve vyañjakaṃ yadyapārthakam manodevārthasadbhāve sati dhīrapyanarthikā // athaivaṃ bruvate kecit karaṇatvavivakṣayā so 'pi devairmanaḥṣaṣṭhaiḥ pakṣo 'naikāntikaḥ smṛtaḥ // athaikaviniyogitve satyekamatiricyate śrotradṛkpāṇipādādi tato bhinnārthamastu nuḥ // na caikaviniyogitvaṃ vidyābuddhyoḥ kathañcana viniyogāntaradvārā na duṣṭānekasādhyatā // vidyā vyaktāṇucicchaktir nunnākṣeśākṣagocarān svīkṛtya puṃsprayuktasya karaṇasyaiti karmatām // matistenetarā rāgo na gauṇastadvidharmataḥ tacca bhogyatvametadvā vītarāgastato hataḥ // rāgo 'rtheṣvabhilāṣo yo na so 'sti viṣayadvaye karmāstu vyāpakaṃ kalpyaṃ kalpite 'pītaratra yat // karmaṇaḥ kevalasyoktaṃ niyatāveva dūṣaṇam doṣaḥ sahānavasthāno nāsāmyāddveṣarāgayoḥ // sarvasya sarvadā sarvā pravṛttiḥ sukhabuddhijā pravṛttasya sukhaṃ duḥkhaṃ moho bhūtādiriti saṃsmṛtaḥ tebhyaḥ samātrakā devā mātrebhyo bhūtapañcakam // śrotraṃ tvakcakṣuṣī jihvā nāsā ca manasā saha prakāśānvayataḥ sāttvās taijasaśca sa sāttvikaḥ // vāṇī pāṇī bhagaḥ pāyuḥ pādau ceti rajobhuvaḥ karmānvayādrajobhūyān gaṇo vaikāriko 'tra yaḥ // śabdaḥ sparśaśca rūpaṃ ca raso gandhaśca pañcamaḥ guṇāviśiṣṭāstanmātrās tanmātrapadayojitāḥ // prakāśakarmakṛdvarga vailakṣaṇyāttamobhavāḥ prakāśyatvācca bhūtādir ahaṅkāreṣu tāmasaḥ // devapravartakaṃ śīghra kāri saṃkalpadharmi ca manaḥ śabdādiviṣaye grāhakāḥ śravaṇādayaḥ // vacanādānasaṃhlāda visargavihṛtikriyāḥ vāgādīnāṃ padānyatvaṃ pade satyapyatadguṇāḥ // ātmendriyārthanaikṛṣṭye sarvadevāpravṛttitā pravṛttikārakāstitvaṃ yuktito 'pyavasīyate // tattvāntaroktavṛttibhyo vailakṣaṇyādvilakṣaṇaḥ saṃkalpo bījamabhyeti manastatpāriśeṣyataḥ // jñānaṃ tadakṣayogāttat kramayogitayā kramāt tathāpyābhāti yugapan nāśusaṃcaraṇādṛte // niyatārthatayākṣāṇi nānāyonīni kasyacit gandhādivyañjakatvācca tadādhārātmakānyapi // śabdaikagrāhakaṃ śrotraṃ sparśaikagrāhiṇī ca tvak tathāstu yadi nādatte saguṇaṃ kāraṇāntaram // tvagindriyamayuktārtha grāhi yuktaparāṅmukham tejovārimahīdravyaṃ dṛgādatte sarūpakam // tatastridravyajā sā syān na pareṇeṣyate tathā yenopalabhyate yo 'rthaḥ sa tasyārthasya kāraṇam // na prāptamapi karmādi seyaṃ vyasanasantatiḥ karṇarandhraviśiṣṭaṃ khaṃ śabdavargāvabhāsakam // nāsārandhaviśiṣṭaṃ tad brūta kena nivāryate tadadṛṣṭāvaruddhaṃ vā tadapyanyatra kiṃ kṛtam // prāptaṃ gṛhṇāti nātodye śaptaṃ kenāpi dasyunā yuktyagamye 'pi sadvākyāt pratītiraupadravā // mitārthādamitārthasya jyāyastvamiti sūrayaḥ vyomaprabhañjanāgnyambu bhūmayo bhūtapañcakam // śabdādyekottaraguṇam avakāśādivṛttimat dhūnanajvalanaplāva kharatvāvedino guṇāḥ // śabdā vāyvādiṣu vyomni savarṇapratiśabdagāḥ vyūho 'vakāśadānaṃ ca paktisaṃgrahadhāraṇāḥ // vāyuvyomahutāśāmbu dharaṇīnāṃ ca vṛttayaḥ śabdaḥ khaguṇa eveti tadanyatropalabdhitaḥ // bruvate bhagavan kecit sarvabhūtaguṇaḥ katham kvānyatra śravaṇākāśe kathamanyatra tadguṇaḥ // pareṣṭādāśrayāttatra nirṇetānubhavo nṛṇām kadācitkarṇamūle 'pi saṃvidityatha manyase // śrotravṛttivadasyāpi pariṇāmo 'stu kā kṣatiḥ āgamādhyakṣavihatā hetavo nārthasādhakāḥ // kālātyayāpadiṣṭatvād iti nyāyavido viduḥ ityapi sthitamevāyaṃ gandho 'pyastu nabhoguṇaḥ // yena ketakapuṣpāder vaikṛṣṭye 'pyupalabhyate iti pañcasu śabdo 'yaṃ sparśo bhūtacatuṣṭaye // aśītoṣṇo mahīvāyvoḥ śītoṣṇau vāritejasoḥ bhāsvadagnau jale śuklaṃ kṣitau śuklādyanekadhā // rūpaṃ triṣu raso 'mbhaḥsu madhuraḥ ṣaḍvidhaḥ kṣitau gandhaḥ kṣitāvasūrabhiḥ surabhiśca mato budhaiḥ // dehe 'sthimāṃsakeśatvaṅ nakhadanteṣu cāvaniḥ mūtraraktakaphasveda śukrādau vāri saṃsthitam // hṛdi paktau dṛśoḥ pitte tejastaddharmadarśanāt She suggests (1985:362, fn.5) that the karaṇīsūtra is used to trace the box to enclose the praṇava just mentioned in verse 31 and that the teacher would use it while explaining maṇḍalas. Only some of them add a colophon. Some quoted fragments not found in the printed editions are gathered together by Bhatt in an appendix. Not included by Bhatt, as Brunner observes (1985:412, n.2), is part of the conclusion to the tantra quoted by \Agh\ in his \MrgVD\ when glossing \Narayana's opening verses: yadvakṣyatyupasaṃhāre
