yadi bhāvanāvacanasyaivāpūrvapratipādakatvam iṣyate dhātor vā pratyayanirapekṣasya, tato nāmapakṣo durbalaḥ syāt, iha tu yathaiva dhātoḥ pratyayasaṃbandhānugṛhītasya bhāvanā- %p. 94 nurañjananimittaṃ karaṇavācitvaṃ bhavati, evaṃ nāmapadasyāpīty aviśeṣaḥ |
yad uktam yadaikasmād apūrvaṃ tadetarat tadarthaṃ bhaviṣyati iti tadgataṃ tāvad vastudharmeṇa viśeṣaṃ darśayati | katham |
ekasmād adṛṣṭe kalpite yadītarad dṛṣṭārthatvena tādarthyaṃ bhajate tato lāghavaṃ labhyate | atha tu tādarthyasiddhaye tato 'pi punar adṛṣṭaṃ kalpyata eva tato varaṃ phalenaiva sarvāṇi saṃbaddhāni | na ca saṃbandhavairūpyakleśāśrayaṇam | nāmnaś ca phalasaṃbandhe 'vaśyaṃ dhātvarthas tadanugrahārtho 'bhyupagantavyaḥ | sa ca svayaṃ niṣpādyaḥ siddharūpasya nāmārthasya na śaknoti dṛṣṭenopakartum | na hi nāmārthas tam apekṣate | śabdaprayogavelāyām eva niṣpannatayā gamyamānatvāt, apekṣaṇīyasya vā siddhatvenāyogyatvāt |
prayujyate 'smin iti cābhidheya eva prayogaḥ | tadādhāraiva hi niṣpannarūpopalabdhiḥ | anutpannatve kriyārūpasya vaktavye vināśitvapradarśanaṃ niṣpannasyāpi %p. 95 kṣaṇikatvena punaḥ punar niṣpattyapekṣopapatteḥ | tebhyaḥ parākāṅkṣā anyākāṅkṣā niṣpādyatvena vā pradhānākāṅkṣā na vidyata ity adhyāhāraḥ | atha vā tebhyaḥ parā dūre ākāṅkṣety arthaḥ | kutaḥ | bhūtatvāt iti svarūpakathanārtham upanyastaṃ niṣpannatvād eveti punar ante tad eva hetutvenopadiṣṭaṃ sūtrakāreṇa |
dhātvarthas tāvat prakṛtyaiva sādhyātmakaḥ | viśeṣatas tv ākhyātagatena dhātunocyamānaḥ sa yadi phalasādhanatvena codyate tato 'siddharūpatvāt tasya sādhanākāṅkṣāyāṃ satyāṃ nāmapadaṃ guṇavidhitvena nāmadheyatvena vobhayathāpi dṛṣṭenaiva tādarthyaṃ labhate | nanu nāmadheyapakṣe nāmapadam api sādhyārthaṃ bhaviṣyatīti dhātutulyaṃ syāt | na | tasya phalasaṃbandhe guṇavidhitvena siddhārthatvāt | api ca
yady api vastusvarūpeṇa dhātvarthaḥ sādhyaḥ, tathāpi nāmapadenocyamāno liṅgasaṃkhyāyogitvāt siddharūpo 'bhidhīyate | abhidhānakṛtā cākāṅkṣotpattir na vastukṛtā | tasmād yuktā dhātor evākāṅkṣā na nāmna iti |
kiñ cāśritatvāt prayogasya iti | adhunā śabdapratyāsattikṛto viśeṣo 'bhidhīyate | puruṣavyāpārātmikāyāṃ hi bhāvanāyāṃ dhātvarthopaśleṣo 'pi puruṣeṇāśritas tadatikramahetvabhāvāc ca na nāmapadagrahaṇam | tasmād asti viśeṣaḥ |
