sukhaikaviṣayā bhūtānāṃ pravṛttiḥ / sukhaṃ ca sati duḥkhahetāvasambhavati / ato bhavati duḥkhābhighātake jijñāsā sā ca tattvajñānāt / atastattvamatra nirūpyate / nanu trividhaṃ duḥkham ādhyātmikamādhidaivikamādhibhautikaṃ ca / tatrādhyātmikaṃ dvividhaṃ śārīraṃ mānasañca / śārīraṃ vātapittaśleṣmaṇāṃ vaiṣamyanimittaṃ mānasaṃ kāmakrodhādinibandhanam / ādhibhautikaṃ mānuṣapaśupakṣyādinimittam / ādhidaivikaṃ yakṣarākṣasagrahādyāveśanibandhanam / teṣāṃ caiṣāṃ laukikairevopāyaiḥ pratīkāraḥ śakyate / tathā hi śārīrasyauṣadhādibhiḥ mānasasya manojñastrīpānabhojanavastrālaṅkārādiprāptyā ādhibhautikasya nītiśāstrābhyāsasusthānopaveśādinā ādhidaivikasya maṇimantrādyupayogeneti sukara upāyaḥ tattvajñānaṃ tvanekajanmaraparābhyāsasādhyam / tathā ca laukikānāmābhāṇakaḥ / akke cenmadhu vindeta kimarthaṃ parvataṃ vrajet / iṣṭasyārthasya saṃprāptau ko vidvān yatnamācaret // iti / akke gṛhakoṇe / maivam / na hyetairupāyaiḥ sarvameva duḥkhaṃ nivartate / nivṛttaṃ punarnotpadyate / yadyapi śāstrīyamapi ahorātramāsavarṣādisādhyamupāyāntaraṃ sukaraṃ śrūyate apāma somamamṛtā abhūmeti tathāpi etadapi laukikopāyatulyameva / tathāhi somayāgaḥ paśuvadhādisādhanatvānna viśeṣataḥ śuddhaḥ / akṛte hi tadvadhaprāyaścitte svargādigatyanantaraṃ paripacyate eva tadduḥkham / na ca na hiṃsyātsarvābhūtānīti sāmānyaśāstrabhya viśeṣaśāstreṇāgnīṣomīyaṃ paśumālabhetetyanena bādhaḥ śaṅkyaḥ bhinnaviṣayatvena bādhyabādhakabhāvāsambhavāt agnīṣomīyaṃ paśumālabheteti vākyena hi vadhasya kratūpakārakatvameva bodhyate na tu puruṣapratyavāyābhāvaḥ / evaṃ svargāderanityatvamapi sattve sati kāryatvādanumīyate / tathā ca śrutirapi
karmaṇā jyotiṣṭomādinā prajayā putreṇa dhanena devatājñānena putreṇāyaṃ loko jeyo vidyayā devalokaḥ karmaṇā pitṛloka iti śrutyantarāt ebhiḥ pitrādilokasyaiva prāptirnāmṛtatvasyeti bhāvaha / tarhi kathamamṛtatvamityata āha tyāgeneti / sarvakarmasaṃnyāsasādhyajñānenetyarthaḥ / tadamṛtatvaṃ svarga eva cettattrāha pareṇa nākamiti / tarhi dūrasthatvānna prāpyamiti cettatrāha nihitaṃ guhāyāmiti / taccāsannatvātpṛthak janairapi labhyamiti cettatrāha yadyataya iti / adūrabhūtamapyavivekināṃ dūrabhūtameva / tathā śrutyantaram /
apāma somamamṛtā abhūmetyamṛtatvābhidhānaṃ tu cirasthityabhiprāyam / yadāhuḥ ābhūtasamplavaṃ sthānamamṛtatvaṃ hi bhāṣyate iti / tadetatsarvamabhipretyoktaṃ śāstrakṛdbhiḥ tadbiparītaḥ śreyān vyaktāvyaktajñavijñānāt / asyārthaḥ / tasmātsomapānāderaviśuddhādanityāt viparīto hiṃsādyasaṅkarādviśuddha upāyaḥ śreyān / sa ca katham ? vyaktasya kāryajātasya tatkāraṇasya avyaktasya pradhānasya tābhyāṃ parasya tasyātmanaśca vivekena jñānādbhavati iti / na ca vivekotpannaphalasyāpi kāryatvādanityatvaṃ śaṃkyam / bhāvarūpakāryasyaivānityatvāt duḥkhadhvaṃsasya tu kāryatve 'pi nityatvāt / athātra śāstre catasro vidhāḥ / prakṛtirvikṛtirubhayamanubhayañceti / tatra jagato mūlakāraṇabhūtaṃ pradhānaṃ na vikāraḥ kintu prakṛtireva prakarotīti prakṛtiḥ sattvarajastamasāṃ sāmyāvasthā / asyāśca mūlāntaramanavasthābhayānnāstīti mūlaprakṛtirityucyate / saiva śāstrāntare avidyā māyāśabdenocyate / etadevāvyaktaṃ sattvādīnāṃ guṇānāṃ vaiṣamye sati vyaktamityucyate / yathāhi samudrajale calitācalitapradeśāḥ / evaṃ triguṇātmike pradhāne pariṇāmavāṃstadvidhuraśca pradeśaḥ / tatra prakṛtivikāreṣu madhye ādyo vikāro mahānityucyate sa etadbuddhilakṣaṇaḥ / sa āha mahānsāttviko rājasastāmasaśceti trividhaḥ / buddhestu prathamo vikāro 'haṅkāraḥ / ete ca mahadādayaḥ prakṛtayo vikṛtayaśca / tathāhi mahattattvamahaṅkārasya prakṛtirvikṛtiśca mūlaprakṛteḥ / ayaṃ hi kramaḥ prakṛtermahān mahato 'haṅkāraṃ ahaṅkārātpañca tanmātrāḥ tābhyaḥ pañca bhūtāni tanmātrāṇi punaḥ kṣīradadhyorantarāle kalalapariṇāmātpariṇatāni sūkṣmabhūtāni kusumasaurabhyena sūkṣmasthūlatayopalakṣyamāṇaṃ guṇavaiṣamyameva tanmātraśabdena bhūtaśabdena cocyate / pañca bhūtāni ekādaśendriyāṇi ceti eṣa ṣoḍaśako gaṇastu vikāra eva na prakṛtiḥ / puruṣastvātmā na prakṛtirna vikṛtiḥ / tadetadāhuḥ /
mūlaprakṛtiravikṛtirmahadādyāḥ prakṛtivikṛtayaḥ sapta / ṣoḍaśakastu vikāro na prakṛtirna vikṛtiḥ puruṣaḥ // iti /
atha śāstraparibhāṣā / dṛṣṭamanumānamāptavacanañceti trividhaṃ laukikaṃ pramāṇam / ārṣaṃ tu vijñānaṃ yogināmeveti tadatra noktam / tatra pṛthivyādayaḥ sukhādayaścāsmadādīnāṃ viṣayāḥ / tanmātralakṣaṇāstu devānāṃ yogināṃ ca viṣayā na tvasmadādīnām teṣāṃ cendriyaiḥ sambandhaḥ sannikarṣaḥ / evañca viṣayasambaddhendriyāśrito yo buddhidharmo 'dhyavasāyaḥ sa eva pramāṇam / ayaṃ hi kramaḥ / viṣayasambaddhānāmindriyāṇāṃ vṛttau satyāṃ buddhestu tamobhibhave sati yaḥ sattvasamudrekaḥ so 'dhyavasāya iti jñānamiti vṛttiścākhyāyate / tadidaṃ pratyakṣapramāṇam / asmācca yaścetanāśakteranugrahastatphalaṃ pramā bodhaḥ / buddhisattvaṃ hi prākṛtatvādacetanamiti tadīyo 'dhyavasāyo 'pyacetanaḥ ghaṭādivat / evaṃ hi buddhisattvasya pariṇāmabhedāḥ sukhādayo 'pyacetanāḥ / puruṣastu sukhādyananuṣaṅgī cetanaḥ / so 'yaṃ buddhitattvavarttinā jñānasukhādinā tatpratibimbito buddhisādṛśyaprāptyā jñānasukhādimāniva bhavati citisādṛśyaprāptyā ca acetanāpi buddhistadavadhyavasāyaśca cetana iva bhavati / cārvākāstu pratyakṣānyat na mānamiti vadanti / tanmate saṃdigdhaviparyayastu puruṣabodhanaṃ nopapadyeta / nahi puruṣāntaragataḥ saṃśayaḥ anumānaṃ kathanaṃ vinā vā jñātuṃ śakyaḥ / pramāṇāntarāṇi tvatraivāntarbhavanti / tathāhi upamānaṃ tāvat gosadṛśo gavaya iti vākyaṃ tajjanito bodho śabda evāntarbhavati cakṣuḥsaṃnikṛṣṭasya gavayasya yat gosādṛśyajñānaṃ tatpratyakṣameva / evaṃ jīvataścaitrasya gṛhāsattvena bahiḥsattvakalpanamarthāpattiḥ sāpyanumāna evāntarbhavati / vimataścaitro bahirbhavitumarhati gṛheṣvavidyamānatvāt / yadā tvavyāpakaḥ sannekatrāsti tadānyatra nāsti yadaikatra nāsti tadānyatrāstīti vyāptigrahāt / evamiha vaṭe yakṣaḥ prativasati iti aitihyaṃ na pramāṇamanirdiṣṭasvavaktṛkatvena sandehāt / āptoktatvaniścaye tvāgama eva / evamabhāvo nānupalabdhigamyaḥ kintu pratyakṣa eva / na hi bhūtalasya kaivalyalakṣaṇātpariṇāmaviśeṣādanyo ghaṭābhāvo nāma / sarva eva hi bhāvāḥ pratikṣaṇaṃ pariṇāminaḥ sa ca pariṇāmabheda aindriyaka evetyalam / tatra sūkṣmasyāvyaktasyāpratyakṣatve 'pi mahadādikāryeṇa tadanumīyate / tathāhi sadeva kāryaṃ kāraṇavyāpārātprāgapi / asato hi sattvaṃ duṣkaram nahi nīlaṃ śilpisahasreṇāpi pītaṃ śakyaṃ kartum / kintu tileṣu pīḍanena tailasyeva āvirbhāvamātramutpattiḥ tirobhāva eva vināśaḥ / kiñcāsambaddhasyāpi kāryasya janyatve sambaddhatvāviśeṣātsarvaṃ kāryaṃ sarvasmādbhavediti kāryasambaddhasyaiva kāraṇasya janakatvamupeyam / na ca sadasatoḥ sambandho 'stīti satkāryam / kiñca tantudharmatvāttantūpādeyatvācca na paṭasyārthāntaratvam yannaivaṃ tannaivaṃ yathā ghaṭapaṭau / tathā arthāntarayoḥ saṃyogo vā bhavati yathā kuṃḍabadarayoḥ aprāptirvā bhavati himavadvindhyayoḥ / tasmādyathā kūrmaśarīre kūrmāṅgāni niviśamānāni tirobhavanti na tatra tānyutpadyante na vinaśyanti vā evamekasmātsuvarṇādermukuṭādiprādurbhāva evotpattiḥ / evañca mahadādikāryaṃ pradhāne 'bhiniviśate avyaktaṃ bhavati iti / kāraṇe sattyeva kāryasya vibhāgāvibhāgābhyāmavyaktaṃ kāraṇamastīti gamyate / taccāvyaktaṃ nityaṃ vyāpakaṃ ca sarvaṃ kāryaṃ vyāpnoti tathā niḥkriyaṃ kvacidapyanāśritañca evaṃ niravayavaṃ svatantraṃ ca / etadviparītantu vyaktam / evaṃ vyaktamavyaktaṃ ca sukhaduḥkhamoharūpaguṇatrayānvitamacetanaṃ prasavadharmi ca tadviparītaḥ puruṣaḥ sukhādayaśca guṇāḥ sattvarajastamorūpāḥ / sattvasya prayojanaṃ tu prakāśaḥ rajastu tasya pravartakaṃ tamastu niyāmakaṃ yadi hi tamasā guruṇā niyamyeta tadā rajaḥ laghu sattvaṃ sarvatra pravarttayet / yathā sattvaṃ rajastamasī abhibhūya śāntā vṛttimadhigacchati yathā ca rajaḥ sattvarajasī abhibhūya ghorāṃ tathā tamaḥ sattvarajasī abhibhūya mūḍhāmiti / yadyapyete parasparaṃ virodhaśīlāḥ tathāpi yathā vātapittaśleṣmāṇaḥ parasparavirodhinaḥ śarīradhāraṇarūpaikakāryakāriṇaḥ evamete 'pi / evaṃ sukhahetutvātsattvaṃ sukhātmakaṃ duḥkhahetutvādduḥkhātmakaṃ rajaḥ yanmohakaṃ tattamaḥ / te ca sukhaduḥkhamohāḥ parasparavirodhinaḥ svānurūpāṇyeva parasparaṃ viruddhāni sukhaduḥkhamohātmakāni nimittāni kalpayanti / tathāhi ekaiva strī svāminaṃ prati sukharūpasadbhāvāttaṃ sukhākaroti sapatnīstu duḥkhākaroti evamatrāpyekasyāpi nimittabhedādbhedaḥ / sukhaprakāśalāghavaistu parasparamavirodhānna nimittabhedāḥ kalpyante / sargādau tu pariṇāmasvabhāvā guṇāḥ kṣaṇamapyapariṇamayya na tiṣṭhantīti sattvaṃ sattvarūpatayā rajo rajorūpatayā tamastamorūpatayā pravarttate / yathāhi ghanavimuktajalānāṃ jambīrakaravīranārikerādyāśrayabhedādasti bhedaḥ evamekarūpāṇāmapi guṇānāṃ pratiguṇāśrayaviśeṣādanekarūpatā / ātmā tu vyaktāvyaktasaṃghātabhinnaḥ / parārtho hi saṃghāto bhavati / yathā śayanāsanādayaḥ saṃghātāḥ śarīrārthā dṛṣṭāḥ / kiñca yathā rathādi yaṃtryādinādhiṣṭhitaṃ evaṃ triguṇātmakamapi pareṇa kenacidadhiṣṭhīyamānaṃ yuktam / sa cātmā pratiśarīraṃ bhinnaḥ na hyekasmin sukhini sarve sukhinaḥ / sa cāyaṃ puruṣaḥ sākṣī ca bhavati prakṛtirhi svaviṣayacaritaṃ puruṣāya pradarśayati / tathāhi loke arthipratyarthinau vivādaviṣayaṃ sākṣiṇe darśayataḥ / evaṃ cāyaṃ draṣṭāpi bhavati / tathā atraiguṇādasya kaivalyaṃ ca dharmaḥ / ātyantiko hi duḥkhatrayābhāvaḥ kaivalyam / ata evātriguṇatvānmadhyastho 'pi bhavati sukhī hi sukhe tṛpyan duḥkhī dviṣan madhyastho na bhavati / āta evobhayarāhityādudāsīna ityucyate / evamaprasavadharmitādakartā 'pi / yadyapi cetano 'haṃ karomīti kṛticaitanyayoraikādhikaraṇyaṃ pratīyate tathāpi puruṣapradhānādisambandhātpuruṣacaitanyamavyakte guṇakartṛtvaṃ ca puruṣe upacaryate / bhogyaṃ hi pradhānaṃ bhoktāramantareṇa na saṃbhavati iti bhavati tasya bhoktrapekṣā puruṣastu bhogyena pradhānena saṃyuktastadgataṃ duḥkhamātmanyabhimanyamānaḥ kaivalyaṃ prārthayate / tacca sattvapuruṣānyatākhyātinibandhanam na ca sattvapuruṣānyatākhyātiḥ pradhānamantareṇeti kaivalyārthaṃ puruṣaḥ pradhānamapekṣata iti tayoḥ saṃyogaḥ ata eva saṃyogo na mahadādisargamantareṇa bhogāya kaivalyāya ca paryāpta iti saṃyoga eva bhogāpavargārthaṃ sargaṃ karotīti //
atha vivekajñānopayoginī buddhirnirūpyate / tasyāśca vyāpāro 'dhyavasāyaḥ tadabhinnaḥ / eṣa buddherlakṣaṇaṃ samānāsamānajātīyavyavacchedakatvāt / tathāhi sarvo 'pi vyavahartā 'hamatrādhikṛta iti abhimatya mayā etatkartavyamiti adhyavasyati tataśca pravartate / tatra citisannidhānādāpannacaitanyāyā buddheryo 'yaṃ kartavyamiti viniśayayaḥ so 'dhyavasāyaḥ / tatra dharmo yāgādyanuṣṭhānajanitaḥ / jñānaṃ guṇapuruṣānyatākhyātiḥ / vairāgyaṃ rāgābhāvaḥ / evamaiśvaryamapi buddhidharmo yato 'ṇimādiprādurbhāvaḥ / ahamatra śaktaḥ matto nānyo 'trādhikṛtaḥ ato 'hamasmi ityādiko yo 'bhimānaḥ so 'haṅkāravyāpāratvādahaṅkāraḥ / tamupajīvya hi buddhiradhyavasyati karttavyametanmayeti ahaṅkārācca dvividhaḥ sargaḥ sāttvikādekādaśendriyāṇi tāmasāttu pañcatanmātrāḥ / rajasastu tatpravartakatvamātrātkāraṇatvam / sāttvikarājasatāmasāhaṅkārāṇāmeva krameṇa vaikārikastaijaso bhūtādiriti saṃjñāḥ / cakṣuḥśrotraghrāṇarasanatvagākhyāni buddhīndriyāṇi / vākpāṇipādapāyūpasthāni karmendriyāṇi / mana ubhayātmakaṃ buddhīndriyaṃ karmendriyañca / cakṣurādīnāṃ ca manodhiṣṭhitānāṃ svaviṣayeṣu pravṛtteḥ / prathamaṃ vastudarśanantantaraṃ bālamūkādivannirvikalpātmakaṃ sāmānyato jñānamutpadyate / paścācca vastudhamairjātyādibhiryo 'dhyavasāyaḥ sa saṅkalpākhyo manaso vyāpāraḥ / ekasmādahaṅkārādekādaśavidhāni indriyāṇi bhavantītyatra tu śabdādyupabhogasampravartakādṛṣṭabheda eva niyāmakaḥ / adṛṣṭabhedastu guṇapariṇāma eva / pañcabuddhīndriyāṇāṃ sambaddhavastvālocanaṃ vṛttiḥ vāgādikarmendriyāṇāṃ tu vacanādayo vṛttayaḥ / evaṃ mahato 'dhyavasāyaḥ ahaṅkārasyābhimānaḥ saṅkalpo manaso vṛttirvyāpāraḥ / kāryakaraṇābhimukhānāṃ karaṇānāṃ vṛttisaṅkarastu na bhavati / yathāhi parāvaskandāya pravṛttāḥ śāktīkayāṣṭīkādayaḥ svaṃ svaṃ śaktyādikamevādadate na parasparayaṣṭyādikam / nanu yāṣṭīkānāṃ cetanatvādastu tathā pravṛttiḥ karaṇānāṃ tvacetanānāṃ pravṛtterayuktatvāttatsvarūpasāmarthyopabhogābhijña adhiṣṭhātā svīkārya iti cenna tatpravṛttau puruṣārthasya hetutvāt etaccopapādayiṣyati / karaṇāni tu trayodaśa / karaṇatvaṃ tu śabdasparśādiprakāśanaṃ karmendriyāṇāṃ tu vacanādivyāpāraḥ / etadbāhyakaraṇaṃ varttamānakālamantaṣkaraṇaṃ tu trikālam / nadīpūrabhedādabhūdvṛṣṭiḥ asti dhūmādihāgniḥ pipīlikāṇḍasaṃcaraṇādbhaviṣyati vṛṣṭiriti pratyayāt / ye tu vaiśeṣikāḥ kālamekamatiriktaṃ svīkurvate / tanmate 'pyatītānāgatādivyavahārabhedaḥ upādhibhedādeva bhavati evaṃ ca taistairupādhibhirevātītānāgatādibhedasiddhau kimatiriktakālasvīkāreṇeti sāṃkhyāḥ / eṣāṃ cendriyāṇāma pradhānāpradhānabhāvo 'pyasti / yathāhi grāmādhyakṣā karṣakādibhyaḥ karamādāya viṣayādhyakṣāya prayacchanti viṣayādhyakṣaśca sarvādhyakṣāya sa ca bhūpataye evaṃ bāhyendriyāṇyālocya manase samarpayanti manaśca saṅkalpyāhaṅkārāya ahaṅkāraścābhimatya buddhau sarvādhyakṣāyāmiti / ete ca buddhīndriyamanohaṅkārā guṇaviśeṣā guṇānāṃ sattvarajastamasāṃ vikārāḥ parasparaṃ viruddhāṃ api puruṣārthenaikavākyatāpannāḥ yathā santamasāpanayanena prakāśāya militā vartitailavahnayaḥ pradīpo bhavati / nanu kasmādbuddhau prayacchanti na punarahaṅkārāya manase veti cenna puruṣārthasya prayojakatayā sākṣātsādhanaṃ pradhānaṃ buddhireva ahaṅkārādayastu taṃ prati gauṇāḥ / asmadādibhiḥ parasparavyāvṛttāni nānubhūyante iti śabdāditanmātrāṇi aviśeṣāḥ sūkṣmāṇi ca / ākāśādiṣu tu sthūleṣu kvacitsattvapradhānatayā śāntāḥ sukhāḥ prasannā laghavaḥ kecidrajastamaḥpradhānatayā ghorā mūḍhāśca / te viśeṣāḥ punaḥ tridhā sūkṣmaṃ śarīraṃ mātāpitṛjaṃ mahābhūtāni ca / pradhānenādisarge pratipuruṣamekaikamutpāditaṃ tathā 'vyāhataṃ śilāmapyanupraviśati / sargādāmahāpralayamavatiṣṭhate sūkṣmaṃ śarīraṃ tacca mahadahaṅkāraikādaśendriyapañcatanmātrasamudāyaḥ / etacca śarīraṃ bhogānarha iti sthūlaṃ śarīraṃ ṣāṭkauśikamāśrayati / lomalohitamāṃsāni mātṛtaḥ snāyvasthimajjānaḥ pitṛta iti ṣaṭ kośāḥ / nanu dharmādharmanimittaḥ saṃsāraḥ tasya ca sūkṣmaśarīre 'bhāvātkathaṃ sthūlaśarīrāśrayaṇamiti cet na dharmādyanvitabuddhyā saṃyogena tasyāpi dharmādyabhivāsitatvāt yathāhi surabhipuṣpādisambandhādvastramapi tadāmodavāsitaṃ bhavati / dharmādharmādinimittakaṃ ca sthūlaśarīragrahaṇaṃ tayoḥ saṃsargeṇa sūkṣmaśarīraṃ sthūlaśarīramāśritya devo vā manuṣyo vā paśurvā bhavati / yathāhi naṭastāṃ bhūmikāma vidhāya dharmarājo vā bhavati vatsarājo vā bhavati iti / hetustvatra puruṣārtha eva / tatrordhvagamanasya nimittaṃ dharmaḥ / evamadharmeṇādhogatiḥ / jñānena mokṣo 'jñānena bandhaḥ / tattvānabhijñasya puruṣasya vairāgyamātrātprakṛtyādiṣvātmabudhyopāsyamāneṣu tatraiva layaḥ rāgātsaṃsāraḥ aiśvaryādicchāyā avighātaḥ vighātaścānaiśvaryāt / ayaṃ buddhisargaḥ caturdhā viparyayāśaktituṣṭisiddhibhedāt / tatra viparyayo 'jñānamavidyā / viparyayaḥ pañcadhā avidyāsmitārāgadveṣābhiniveśā yathāsaṃkhyaṃ tamomohamahāmohatāmisrāndhatāmisrasaṃjñābhedāt / prakṛtyādiṣvanātmasvātmabuddhiravidyā tamaḥ / devādīnāmaṇidādyaiśvaryeṣu śāśvatikatvābhimāno 'smitā mohaḥ / śabdādiṣu viṣayeṣu rāga āsaktirmahāmohaḥ / devādīnāmasurādibhyaḥ svaiśvaryāṇimābhighātabhayamabhiniveśo 'ndhatāmisraḥ / aśaktistu andhatvapaṅgutvādirūpā karaṇavaikalyahetukā / tuṣṭayo dvedhā ādhyātmikā bāhyāśca prakṛtivyatirikta ātmāstīti niścitya saṃnyāsādeva tavāpavarto bhaviṣyatīti upadeśādau yā tuṣṭayastā ādhyātmikyaḥ pañcaviṣayoparamāt yā tuṣṭayastā bāhyāḥ / ātmavidyānāmadhyayanamananādayaḥ siddhibhedāḥ / evaṃ nirūpito buddhisargaḥ / tanmātrasargo 'pi devamanuṣyapaśvādibhedādbahudhā / tatrordhādhomadhyalokāḥ sattvarajotamobahulāḥ / nanu sukhaduḥkhādayaḥ prākṛtā buddhiguṇāḥ kathaṃ cetane bhavantīti cetsatyam puri liṅge śerate sa puruṣaḥ / evaṃ ca liṅgapuruṣayoḥ sambandhālliṅgadharmānātmanyadhyavasyati / ayaṃ ca mahadādi pṛthivyādimahābhūtāntaḥ sargaḥ prakṛtyaiva kṛtaḥ / niṣkāraṇatve tu sadaiva syānnaiva vā syāt / īśvarastu na tatropādānaṃ citiśakterapariṇāmāt / nāpi īśvarādhiṣṭhitāyā prakṛteḥ kartṛtvaṃ nirvyāpārasyādhṣṭhātṛtvāsambhavāt / nahi nirvyāpārastakṣāvāsyādyadhitiṣṭhati / nanu prakṛteḥ kartṛtve tasyā nityatvenānuparamātkadāpi mokṣo na syāditi cenna / yathā hi odanakāmaḥ pakvaudano na pravartate punastatra evaṃ yaṃ yaṃ puruṣaṃ prakṛtirmocitavatī na taṃ prati punaḥ pravartate / nanvacetanāyāṃ prakṛtau kathaṃ cetanadharmaḥ pravṛttiḥ tasmādasti prakṛteradhiṣṭhātā cetanaḥ ātmānastu prakṛtisvarūpānabhijñatvānnādhiṣṭhātumarhanti tasmādasti sarvārthadarśī prakṛteradhiṣṭhātā sa ceśvara eveti cetsatyam yathāhi vatvavivṛddhyarthamacetanamapi kṣīraṃ pravartate tathā prakṛtirapi puruṣamokṣāya pravartiṣyate / na ceśvarādhiṣṭhānatvena kṣīre pravṛttiḥ śaṅkayā / dvidhā hi pravṛttirbhavati svārthāya kāruṇyāya vā / na cāptasakalakāmasyeśvarasya kimapi prārthanīyamasti sargātprāk duḥkhābhāvena karuṇāyā asaṃbhavāt / kiñca karuṇayā prerita īśvaraḥ sukhina eva sarvān prāṇinaḥ sṛjet na vicitrān / prakṛtestvacetanatayā nedaṃ dvayaṃ kintu parārthaiva pravṛttiḥ yathā pāriṣadānpradarśayannivartate naṭaḥ evaṃ prakṛtiḥ ātmānaṃ śabdādyātmanā puruṣādbhedena prakāśya nivartate / phalābhāve 'pi nirguṇe upakāriṇyapi puruṣe prakṛtistapasvinī pravartate eva yathāhi guṇavānupakāryapi bhṛtyo nirguṇe upakāriṇyapi svāmini niṣphalārādhanaḥ / yadyapi nāṭyānnivṛtto 'pi naṭaḥ kālāntare punarapi pravartate evaṃ muktaṃ prati prakṛtistu na punaḥ pravartate yathāhi vigalitavasanā kulavadhūḥ kadācitkenaciddṛṣṭā cettadāsau tathā yatate yathā na puruṣāntarāṇi paśyanti evaṃ prakṛtirapi vivekena sākṣātkṛtā 'tilajjāvaśātpunaḥ svātmānaṃ na pradarśayati / nanu savāsanakleśakarmāśayānāṃ bandhanasaṃjñitānāmapyapariṇāmini puruṣe 'sambhavātkathaṃ mokṣaḥ mucerbandhanaviśleṣārthatvāt / ata eva na saṃsāro 'pi sambhavati niṣkriyatvāt / maivam / yathāhi bhṛtyagatau jayaparājayau svāminyupacaryete evaṃ prakṛtigatayorapi bhogāpavargayorvivekāgrahātpuruṣe upacāraḥ / tatra dharmādharmājñānavairāgyāvairāgyaiśvaryānaiśvaryarūpaiḥ saptabhirbhāvairbadhnāti tattvajñānena tu mocayati / evaṃ ca kṛtādasmāttattvābhyāsānnāsmi na me nāhamiti śuddhamutpadyate jñānaṃ yadviṣayo abhyāsastaṃ sākṣātkārayatīti / nāsmītyanena kriyāmātranniṣidhyate asteḥ kriyārthatvāt / nāhamityanena kartṛtvaṃ na me ityanena svāmitvaṃ niṣidhyate / bhogavivekasākṣātkārau prakṛteḥ prasotavyau tau ca prasūtāviti nivṛttā prakṛtistāṃ niṣkriyaḥ svacchapuruṣaḥ paśyati prakṛtipuruṣayorasaṃsarge 'pyavivekakhyātinibandhanaḥ saṃsāraḥ punarna bhavati iti / ante tattvajñānasya tadānīmeva śarīrapātastu na bhavati / yathāhi nivṛtte kulālavyāpāre saṃskāravaśāt cakraṃ bhramattiṣṭhati evaṃ saṃskāravaśāt śarīramapi śarīrapātānantaraṃ tu pradhānasya nivṛttatvādātyantikamapi duḥkhaṃ naśyati duḥkhābhāvarūpaṃ kaivalyamāpnoti //
