Paṇḍitāśokaviracitā Sāmānyadūṣaṇadikprasāritā /
kathamidamavagamyate / parasparavilakṣaṇakṣaṇeṣu pratyakṣasamīkṣyamāṇeṣvabhinnadhīdhvaniprasavanibandhanamanuyāyirūpaṃ sāmānyaṃ na mānyaṃ mānīṣiṇāmiti / sādhakapramāṇavirahāt bādhakapramāṇasambhavācceti brūmaḥ / tathāhi yadidaṃ sāmānyasādhanamanumānamabhidhīyate paraiḥ / yadanugatākāraṃ jñānaṃ tadanugatavastunibandhanaṃ yathā bahuṣu puṣpeṣu srak sragiti jñānaṃ / asti ca parasparasamparkavikalakalāsu kāryyādivyaktiṣvanugatākāraṃ vijñānaṃ tadanaikāntikatādoṣākrāntaśarīratvānna tadbhāvasādhanāyālaṃ / yato bhavati bahuṣu pācakeṣu pācakaḥ pācaka iti ekākāraparāmarśapratyayaḥ / na ca teṣvanugatamekaṃ vastu samasti / tadbhāve hi prāgeva tathāvidhapratyayotpādaprasaṅgo durvvārapracāraḥ / kriyopakārāpekṣāṇāṃ svalakṣaṇānāṃ sāmānyavyañjakatvādayamadoṣa iti cet / naitadasti / nityānāmanādheyātiśayatayānupakāriṇi sahakāriṇyapekṣāyogāt / sātiśayatve vā pratikṣaṇaṃ viśarārūśarīratvāt kriyā kuta iti doṣoduṣpariharaḥ / kriyānibandhanatvāt pācakeṣvanugatākārapratyayasya nānaikāntikatādoṣa ityapi vārttaṃ / pratibhedaṃ bhidyamānānāṃ karmmaṇāṃ tannibandhanatvāyogāt / bhinnānāmapyabhinnākārajñānanibandhanatve vyaktīnāmapi tathā bhāvo na rāja daṇḍanivāritaḥ / tataśca sāmānyameva nopeyaṃ syāt / iti mūlaharaṃ pakṣamāśrayatā devānāṃ priyeṇa suṣṭha anukūlamācaritaṃ / anenaiva nyāyena kriyākārakasambandhamabhinnajñānanibandhanamupakalpayan pratikṣiptaḥ / pākakriyātvanibandhanaḥ pācakeṣvanugatākāraḥ pratyayastato nānaikāntikatādoṣa ityapi na mantavyaṃ / nahyarthāntarasambandhinī jātirarthāntarapratyayotpattihetuḥ, atiprasaṅgāt / syādetat samavetasamavāyasambandhabalāt pākakriyāsāmānyaṃ pācakeṣvabhinnākāraṃ parāmarśapratyayamupajanayati tato na yathoktadoṣaḥ / tadidamapyasāraṃ / yat udayānantarāpavarjjitayā karmmaṇāmevāsambhavāt, vinaṣṭe karmmaṇi tat sāmānyaṃ na karmmaṇi tadabhāvādeva nāpi karttarīti sambadvasambandhopyasya nāstīti nābhinnapratyayahetuḥ / tasmāt sthitametattadanaikāntikatādoṣaduṣṭatvānnedamanumānaṃ sāmānyasattvāsādhanāya paryyāptamiti / itaścāpi na sāmānyasattvāsādhanamidamanumānaṃ / yathaiva hi parasparāsaṅkīrṇasvabhāvā api śābaleyādayobhāvāḥ kayācideva tadekakāryyapratiniyamalakṣaṇayā svahetubalāyātayā prakṛtyā tadekamabhimatamanugatarūpamupakurbbate, tadaparasāmānyāntaramantareṇānyathānavasthāprasaṅgāt / tathā tamekaṃ parāmarśapratyayamupajanayantu kimantarālagaḍunā vyatirekavatā sāmānyenopagatena /
athocyate pratiniyataśaktayaḥ sarvvabhāvāḥ / etacca sāmānyāpalāpibhirapi niyatamabhyupagamanīyaṃ anyathā kutaḥ śālivījaṃ śālyaṅkurameva janayati na kodravāṅkuramiti / paraparyyanuyoge bhāvaprakṛtiṃ muktvā kimaparamiha vacanīyamasti / etaccottaramasmākamapi na vanaukaḥkulakavalitaṃ, tathāhi vayamapyevaṃ śaktā eva vaktuṃ sāmānyamevopakarttuṃ śaktivyaktīnāṃ bhedāviśeṣe 'pi na tadekaṃ vijñānamupajanayitumiti / anuttaraṃ vata doṣasaṅkaṭamatrabhavān dṛṣṭidoṣeṇa praviśyamāno 'pi nātmānamātmanā sambedayate / tathāhi śālivījatadaṅkurayoradhyakṣānupalambhanibandhane kāryyakāraṇabhāve 'vagate śālivījaṃ śālyaṅkuraṃ janayituṃ śaktaṃ na kodravāṅkuramiti śakyamabhidhātuṃ / naivaṃ sāmānyatadvatorupakāryyopakārakabhāvaḥ kutaścana pramāṇānniścitaḥ / tatkathamidamuttaramabhidhīyamānamādadhīta sādhimānamityalamalīkanirbandhanena / na sādhakapramāṇavirahamātreṇa prekṣāvatāmasadvyavahāraḥ / tatastadabhāvasādhakamanumānamabhidhīyamānamasmābhirākalyatāṃ / yadyadupalabdhilakṣaṇaprāptaṃ sannopalabhyate tattadasaditi prekṣāvadbhirvyavaharttavyaṃ, yathāmbarāmburuhaṃ, nopalabhyate copalabdhilakṣaṇaprāptaṃ sāmānyaṃ kvacidapīti svabhāvānupalabdhiḥ / na cātrāsidvidoṣodbhāvanayā pratyavasthātavyam / tathā hyatrāsidvirbhavantī svarūpato viśeṣaṇato vā bhavet / tatra na tāvadādyaṃ sambhavati / anyopalambharupasyānupalambhasyābhyupagamāt / tasya ca svasambedanapratyakṣasākṣātkṛtasvarūpatvāt kutaḥ svarūpāsidvadoṣāvakāśaḥ /
athocyate svasambedanameva na sambhavati / svātmani kriyāvirodhāt / na hi tayaivāsidhārayā saivāsidhārā cchidyate / tadebāṅgalyagraṃ tenaivāṅgulyagreṇa spṛśyate iti / ato 'sidva evāyaṃ hetuḥ / tadidaṃ svasambedanaśabdārthā parijñānavijṛmbhatameva prakaṭayati vāvaḥ / tathāhi kalasakaladhautakuvalayādibhyo vyāvṛttaṃ vijñānamupajāyate / tena bodharūpatayotpattirevāsya svasambittirucyate, prakāśavat / na karmmakarttṛkriyābhāvāt / ekasyānaṃśarūpasya trairūpyānupapattitaḥ / yathaiva hi prakāśakāntaranirapekṣaḥ prakāśaḥ prakāśamāna ātmanaḥ prakāśaka ucyate / tathā jñānamapi jñānāntaranirapekṣaṃ prakāśamānamātmanaḥ prakāśamucyate / tato 'yaṃ paramārthaḥ / na jñānaṃ jñānāntarasaṃvedyamupapadyate nāpyasambiditamucyate / yathāprakāre ca svasambedanaśabdārtha vivakṣite na kiñcid vacanīyakamasti kuto yathoktadoṣāvasaraḥ / nāpi viśeṣaṇāsidvyāsidvirūdbhāvanīyā / upalabdhilakṣaṇaprāptatayā sāmānyasya svayameva parairupagamāt / tathānabhyupagame vā na sāmānyabalena vā kuleyādiṣvanugatākārau dhīdhvanī syātāṃ / na hi yato yatra jñānābhidhānapravṛttistadanupalakṣaṇe tasya pratītirbhavati, daṇḍivat / yat punaridamudyotitamudyotakareṇa / kiṃ sāmānyaṃ pratipadyase, na vā / yadi pratipadyase kathamapanhuṣe / atha na pratipadyase tadā tasyāsidvatvādāśrayāsidvo hetuḥ / tadidaṃ tasya dharmmisvarūpitānabhijñatāvijṛmbhitamābhāti / yato na vayaṃ vahīrūpatayā sāmānyaṃ dharmmitayāṅgīkurmmahe / antarmmātrābhiniveśino bhāvābhāvobhayānubhavāhitavāsanāparipākaprabhavasyādhyastavahirvastuno jñānākārasya dharmbhitayopayogāt /
sa ca svasambedanapratyakṣasidvatayā na śakyaḥ pratikṣeptuṃ / tadatra dharmmiṇi vyavasthitāḥ sadasatve cintayanti / kimayaṃ sāmānyaśabdavikalpapratibhāsārtho dharmmī paraparikalpitavahiḥsāmānyanibandhano veti / tasya vāhyānupādānatve sādhyatayānupalambho hetuḥ / na punastasyaivābhāvaḥ sādhyate / tadviṣayaśabdaprayogaprasaṅgāt / evambidhe ca dharmmiṇi vivakṣite kuta āśrayāsidvidoṣaḥ / yattūcyate / pratyakṣapramāṇasidvasvabhāvatayā sāmānyasyāsidva evāyaṃ heturiti / tadayuktaṃ, tasya svarūpeṇāpratibhāsanāt /
idameva hi pratyakṣasya pratyakṣatvaṃ yat svarūpasya svabudvau samarpaṇaṃ / idaṃ punarmūlyādānakrayi sāmānyaṃ svarūpañca nādarśayati pratyakṣatāñca svīkarttumicchati / tathāhi na vayaṃ parasparāsaṃkīrṇaśāvaleyādivyaktibhedapratibhāsanavelāyāṃ tadvilakṣaṇamaparamanugatamadhyakṣeṇekṣāmahe / kaṇṭheśanamiva bhūteṣu / śāvaleyasāmānyabudverasidveḥ / tat kathamadṛṣṭakalpanayātmānamātmanā vipralabhemahi /
iti nāsidvo hetuḥ / nāpyanaikāntikatā śaṅkāviṣayamatipatati, vipakṣavṛttyadarśanāt / asapakṣe sambhavānupalambhāt / sādhāraṇānaikāntikatā mābhūta / sandigdhavipakṣavyāvṛttikatā tu pratibandhādarśanādanivārita prasaraiva /
tadetanna samālocitatarkakarkaśadhiyāmabhidhānaṃ / viparyyaye bādhakapramāṇasāmarthyādapasāritasadbhāvatvāttadāśaṅkāyāḥ / tathāhyasattve sādhye sattvaṃ vipakṣaḥ / tatra pratyakṣavṛttyā bhavitavyaṃ / yato yadyadāvikalāpratihatasāmarthyaṃ tattadā bhavatyeva / tadyathāvikalabalasakalakāraṇakalāpo 'ṅkuraḥ / sati ca cakṣurādisākalye dṛśye vastunyavikalāpratibadvaśaktikāraṇaṃ pratyakṣaṃ jñānamiti svabhāvahetuḥ / tato virudvopalambhādvipakṣādvyāvarttamāno hetuḥ / asadvyavahārayogyatvena vyāpyata iti vyāptisidvernānaikāntikaḥ / abhimatasādhya pratibandhasidvestu virudvatā dūratarasamutsāritarabhasaprasaraiva / ato 'sidvatādidūṣaṇaśaṅkākalaṅkālaṅki(kṛ)tādvetoḥ prastutavastusidvau sidvamasattvaṃ sāmānyasyetyalamatibadvavistaravisāriṇyā kathayeti viramyate / na ca vastusaṃsthānavat sāmānyaṃ vyakterlakṣaṇaṃ / na cānuvṛttavyāvṛttavarṇādyātmake jātivyaktī varṇādiniyatapratibhāsapratītiprasaṅgāt / vyakterevāsau pratibhāsa iti cet ko 'parastarhi sāmānyasyānugatākāra iti cet /
nanu varṇasaṃsthāne virahayya kimaparamanugāmi vidyate / jātibyaktayoḥ samavāyabalādavibhāvitavibhāgayoḥ kṣīrodakayoriva parasparamiśraṇena pratipatteriti cet / na tarhi sāmānyaviśeṣayorekatarasyāpi rūpaṃ gṛhītaṃ / svarūpāgrahaṇe 'nayorapyagrahaṇamiti nirālambanaiva sā tādṛśī pratipattiriti paramārtha āveditastāvat nirālambanayā ca pratītyā vyavasthāpyamānaṃ sāmānyaṃ suvyavasthāpitaṃ / tasmādviśeṣyāsidvyāpi nāyamasidvo hetuḥ / sapakṣe varttamāno virudva ityapi na mantavyaḥ / anaikāntikatāpyasya na sambhāvanām arhati / asadvyavahārā napekṣatvena hi dṛśyānupalambho vyāptaḥ / yadi hi sannapi tatra na pravarttayet / iha sāpekṣaḥ syāt / tato vipakṣādvyāpakavirudvāvarudvāt / vyāvarttamāno 'sadvyavahāre viśrāmyatīti atastenāsadvyavahāreṇānupalambho vyāpyata iti kuto 'nekāntaḥ / tataśca sa evārthaḥ samāyātaḥ /

sarvvasya ca pūrvvoktasyāyaṃ paramārthaḥ /
pratyakṣapratibhāsi vartmana pañcasvaṅgulīṣu sthitaṃ sāmānyaṃ pratibhāsate na ca vikalpākārabudvau tathā /
tā evāsphuṭamūrttayotra hi vibhāsante na jātistataḥ
sādṛśyabhramakāraṇau punarimāvekopalabdhidhvanī iti //
